13-Year-Old Has a Solar Power Breakthrough

To those who believe in God, all things come from God as he created all things. Literally he knows electricity is generated by solar cells which convert photons into electrons but the ability for solar cells to exist at all are of man and man of God. See how it works or are you just trying to be cheeky?

"Last week, Jon Huntsman began to call out Governor Rick “4 Pinocchios” Perry and others in his party for being anti-science.

Huntsman: "I think there’s a serious problem. The minute that the Republican Party becomes the party – the anti-science party, we have a huge problem. We lose a whole lot of people who would otherwise allow us to win the election in 2012. When we take a position that isn’t willing to embrace evolution, when we take a position that basically runs counter to what 98 of 100 climate scientists have said, what the National Academy of Science – Sciences has said about what is causing climate change and man’s contribution to it, I think we find ourselves on the wrong side of science, and, therefore, in a losing position.

The Republican Party has to remember that we’re drawing from traditions that go back as far as Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, President Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan and Bush. And we’ve got a lot of traditions to draw upon. But I can’t remember a time in our history where we actually were willing to shun science and become a – a party that – that was antithetical to science. I’m not sure that’s good for our future and it’s not a winning formula.

No one "believes in science" lady stop brainwashing your kid with bull****.

The President doesn't decide any policy of or relating to evolution or creationism anyway so it's a completely irrelevant topic to bring up. The President can believe whatever he wants and it doesn't matter.

Love the Mom prompting him to ask other questions....

Lady, you've got political opinions, and that's fine. You know what they say about opinions and assholes. But really, ask the man yourself! Don't use your kids like that.

That's the thing isn't it... science is a "belief" system.

That's the thing isn't it... science is a "belief" system.

Belief is accepting something as true without evidence.

Science is the discovery of information by exploring evidence.

They are mutually exclusive terms, like "women's rights".

So we can add lying to a nine year old to Perry's anti-science cred. Pathetic!
Obama lied for 2 years on the campaign trail. Funny how you don't seem to mind that, huh?

Correction: Science is the antithesis of a belief system.

Evolution is science based and creationism is belief based.

What is funny, is how you attempt to change the subject when you have been proven wrong. :sun

I'm not very interested... but I'm sure someone owes the Evolutionists something right?

What was I wrong about? Oh I see... you're changing the subject about lying on the campaign trail as an example of the false accusation you made of me... clever... very clever.

Oh really? Go drop a drop a rock and watch it fall. In that simple experiment you've seen far more evidence for science than any religion has offered.

You don't seem to understand the concept of "faith". And let me add... belief and faith are not just Christian concepts. A Buddhist would not want to see a rock fall, that's much too mundane an action. A Buddist would meditate and watch a rock crawl. When they see the rock crawl, they are one step closer to enlightenment.

I have faith that if I pick up and drop it, god will hold it preventing it from hitting the ground

Through observed testing, I found that faith to be incorrect. The gods/god did not prevent that rock from hitting the ground

Why would they want to prevent it from hitting the ground? It was made to fall... Faith isn't the belief in the enigmatic or the impossible, faith is the belief that there is something greater than ones self. One cannot argue with faith - it's a no-win situation.

Faith isn't a Christan concept, however I don't see Buddhists arguing against evolution. Buddhist are probably the "religion" most open to science. After all the Dharma is preached as a science and it the Buddha encouraged people to test his claims for themselves. I'm not even sure you could call Theravada Buddhism a religion. Mahayana certainly, but Theravada is more debatable.

Minor differences between the two. Both share the main requirements. However my foundations and whether or not Buddhists argue for or against evolution is irrelevant. Faith still prevails whether Mahayana or Theravada and that faith extends beyond the physical realm of science into the supernatural.

Either that or they're really, really high. :2razz:

Ever hear of Wally Pleasant? He's a songwriter, writes some funny songs. I'd like to quote him:

I met a former Hells Angel-Born Again Christian at a Shreveport Louisiana Texaco.
And he asked me if I believe in God, and I said "Um, I don't know"
But I did know a guy who took eight hits of acid, then swears he saw God at a Metallica show
Ain't life crazy, ain't life weird? I didn't even know God likes Metallica.

Just made me think about that song...

Cool lyrics...

I met a buddist monk once in Japan - he almost perfected a southern drawl accent that if you closed your eyes you'd never know you were talking to a japanese monk. He was in his mid 30's at the time and also played guitar in an japanese rock punk band. Can't remember his name and this was in like 1988-1989. Other than meeting a few monks in my life and reading about them I don't know much else. I do remember the rock thing though... it's a meditation technique. To be honest I'm not sure if that incense they always burn has some funky stuff in it to help them see the rocks moving from place to place. All I do know is I do like the serenity and pursuit of clarity and thought.

Anyone out there that can translate this into an understandable question for me?

So you think that by denying science you are closer to enlightenment?

Did God speak with you and tell you that the science behind AGW should be ignored?

Strawman... par for the course when you jump in. I've denied nothing.
