Obama On Perry: “I’ll Cut Him Some Slack”

Re: Obama's gift to Sasha and Malia should he be reelected.

I kept hearing how dumb Bush was and how poorly he spoke so what Bush rhetoric? I prefer bea.gov, bls.gov, and the U.S. Treasury Dept. actual numbers to rhetoric. When I go to those sites I see a different picture of what was accomplished vs. what the media sold you. Those same sites show Obama to be a disaster so as badly as you want to divert to Clinton or Bush, results matter over rhetoric.

I"ve already said mulitple times that I'm not voting for Obama again unless his opponent is utterly useless. How much more can I look at results? I'M NOT VOTING FOR HIM. So stop telling me that I buy his rhetoric over his results, because I'm not supporting his re-election.

When I said "you" I was referring to liberals and since you are listed as a centrist that doesn't include you but it does include many here who ignore the results and use that stupid argument of causation=correlation argument.

Re: Obama's gift to Sasha and Malia should he be reelected.

Its true though. It would be a great gift to his girls to be able to say "hey kids...daddy is one of those special types that gets to keep his job for the next four years even though the majority of people think I suck at it...even those that voted for me the first time. SO, you know what THAT means...MORE vacations!" YAY!!!

I think Obama's gift to America should be him losing the election

Losing to who is the important thing. If he loses to Michelle Bachmann we'll have our third failure in a row. I'll really start questioning my faith in democracy.

Re: Obama's gift to Sasha and Malia should he be reelected.

Vs. Obama, you bet!! Bush didn't have a net job loss, didn't have 25 million unemployed and under employed, didn't have a credit downgrade, and didn't oversee 4 trillion added to the debt in 3 years.
Here is Bush's record in his last year in office:

That argument fails when you realize that Obama had his economic policy implemented almost day one and was sold on the basis of shovel ready jobs. He lied to you then and his Administration officials lied when they said passing the stimulus would keep unemployment at 8% so how did that "Hope and Change" work out for you. You do realize that with the terrible 2008 numbers that Bushs still had a net job gain? As of today there are more unemployed, declining labor force as more and more drop out of the labor market due to dispair. This is 2 1/2 years later.

My question is what were the Democrats in Congress doing during this period of time?

False. To say that Obama's economic policy began to be implemented on January 20, 2009 is, to put it nicely, complete BS.

I see, so Bush never "lied" about WMD's, but it's "lying" when Christine Romer and pretty much the whole economist community at large comes up with an inaccurate prediction.

Rather irrelevant, considering Bush was handed a relatively stable economy when he took office, whereas Obama was handed a steaming pile of **** from day one.

Your supreme addiction to causation vs. correlation logical fallacies remain unchanged, apparently.

PolitiFact | Obama says most job losses occurred before his economic policies took hold

When was the stimulus passed? What was the prediction with that stimulus plan? stop buying the rhetoric as it is making you look foolish.

This isn't about Bush but if you want to go there check out the rhetoric of Congressional leaders and even Al Gore prior to Bush taking office. Selective memory is what liberals have as they just cannot accept the fact that you and others elected an empty suit, incompetent for the WH

Bush was handed an economy going into recession then had 9/11 but that isn't even the issue today. I posted the Obama results 2 1/2 years after he was elected to "clean up" the Bush mess which of course "correlation does not equal causation" right? What was the Democrat controlled Senate doing in 2002 and what was the Democrat controlled Congress doing in 2007-2008. Who controls the legislation and purse strings?

As I recall Obama was handed a AAA credit rating as well as a 10.4 trillion debt. Now that debt is 14.6 trillion. He was handed 12.6 million unemployed that is now 15.1. He was handed 14.1% in total unemployment that is now 16.1%.

Your selective use of causation vs. correlation is quite telling. Bush is obviously responsible for all his actions and caused the mess that Obama "inherited" yet Obama isn't responsible for anything that has happened since he took office.

Simple question though, Since Obama was part of the Congress how did he inherit what he helped create?

Clinton was a better President than the last 2 clowns put together.

better than Obama for sure. Bush's supreme court picks (Roberts and Alito) are far stronger intellects than RBG and Breyer. Clinton had better luck for sure

Correct, the numbers you quoted from me were in 2008 when Bush was President.

Do they teach civics in Oregon? Democrats controlled the Congress which is the legislative process and purse strings. Seems you don't understand how our govt. works

The stimulus didn't cause job loss, the Great Bush Recession did. Funny you haven't realized that its your rhetoric many of aren't buying.

Of course they do.

My 11 year old just finished up with "Essentials For Formation of the Workers Paradise", and next year he is slated for "Politburo Standing Commitee Dialectics in the Modern Proletariant State".

First of all, I am a native New Yorker - born, raised when to school there. Migrated to Oregon in 1972. Next, I don't believe anyone taught me that Congress controlled employment. For you to suggest that, make you look silly.:lamo

Keep buying the Obama rhetoric while ignoring the Obama results. How about all those shovel ready jobs that were going to keep unemployment from exceeding 8%? Yep, seems like a lot of incompetence in this Administration that many still support. Seems that so called "Great Bush Recession" which started with a Democrat control of Congress still is in place today 2 1/2 years after Obama took office. Explain how Bush got back into the WH and created the numbers we see today?

So Congress which controls the Legislative process has no control over employment but the President who can do nothing without Congressional support does? I apologize to the people of Oregon and now question the civics taught in NY. Some here would say causation does not equal correlation but guess guess that only relates to good Republican data

The finance meltdown/recession were caused by Bush's "hands off -get out of the way" policy. This was evident in the Deepwater disaster as well.

That is your opinion and nothing is going to change it. What has Obama done to correct the problem? The results today show that you have backed a failure

Re: Obama's gift to Sasha and Malia should he be reelected.

Personally, I find it in bad taste that the President has a sense of humor in this time of global and domestic turmoil.

i agree....and i think was also in bad taste that Michelle filmed an episode of Exreme Home Make Over in Fayettville NC right after deadly tornadoes left countless people homeless in that part of the state

Re: Obama's gift to Sasha and Malia should he be reelected.

yeah that 4.9% unemployment rate looks pretty good right now

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose from 4.2% in January 2001, peaking at 6.3% in June 2003 and reaching a trough of 4.4% in March 2007. After an economic slowdown, the rate rose again to 6.1% in August 2008 and up to 7.2% in December 2008. From December 2007 when the recession started to December 2008, an additional 3.6 million people became unemployed. And, as of January 1, 2009, his last month in office, the nation lost 655,000 jobs, raising the unemployment rate to 7.8%, the highest level in more than 15 years.

That rate looks pretty good today as does the Labor force number when Obama took office. He can really get that rate down by continuing to lose labor force members as they are no longer counted as unemployed. Lower labor force means lower number of unemployed and a lower unemployment rate. Facts howver 25 million unemployed or under employed Americans in July 2011. Try blaming that one on Bush. That appears to be 38% of the people who still support Obama.
