Poll: Debt ceiling deal should include cuts and tax increases

I think increasing anybody's obligation right now is a bad idea. At the same time, I think we should get rid of loopholes,
Getting rid of loopholes means tax increases. So what do you actually believe? Raise taxes and further damage the economy, or keep the tax rates where they are and merely maintain the damage level?

Timing is everything. In the past we got the tax increases immediately with the promise of spending cuts. The cuts never materialized. So let's do the opposite. Let's see all of the cuts now with a promise of tax increases sometime in the future.

IMO, since the promises to cut spending didn't pan out, we should increase taxes and increase spending

Obama has offered 3 dollars in mythical spending cuts to 1 dollar in real tax increases. Not even close to equal.
I included and bolded the missing words in your statement. Why don't we do the opposite? This time, just for once let's get the spending cuts today with promises of tax increases in the future. I would agree to that deal. Wouldn't you?

It's amazing how one mistake is supported by another

says the angry aristotle who thinks the constitution mandates that the house "go first" when the fed raises its debt ceiling, detroit was destroyed by the rightwingers who "ran" it, and barack the slasher hussein is gonna VETO kent conrad

LOL!

Why? He's a moron

Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!

You are a stitch!

Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!

No, i in 7 are below the poverty line with many more close to the edge. So you are suggesting we push the lower working class over the edge we can continue the $58,000 tax breaks for those at the top whose incomes have been climbing greatly while everyone else suffers? Is that your plan?
I like it. Or I like the alternative. If you pay taxes you get to vote. If not, you don't. So people who pay property taxes get to vote in local elections to select the people who will spend the money. We should do the same at the federal level. If you want to vote then bring in your tax return and prove that you were a net tax provider and not a net tax consumer.

Perhaps this will help you:

Recession - "A significant decline in activity across the economy, lasting longer than a few months. It is visible in industrial production, employment, real income and wholesale-retail trade. The technical indicator of a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth as measured by a country's gross domestic product (GDP); although the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) does not necessarily need to see this occur to call a recession. "
And as long as the administration is willing to lie about the numbers, well, presto-chango, no recession.
Now just for fun let's add in inflation which is rising very quickly. It is time to return to the misery index required during the one term president Carter years.

For the sake of the nation the one term Marxist president Obama must be defeated and his democratic allies sent scurrying back to universities.

And there are no communists here. Not Obama, not anyone. That kind of talk marks someone as a nutter, an unorignal nutter.
Communist? No. Communism is the political system joined at the hip with Marxism, an economic theory. The one term president Obama is a Marxist. Not (yet) a communist.

He's neither, and it marks the person claiming he is as either a cheap partisan trying to over use an unoriginal tactic, or a nutter.

Then don't be an idiot. Do both at the same time. Honestly, there is no reason both can't be done, mandated under law, at the exact same time.

or a nutter

says the chin stroking poser who cites the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD on behalf of school teachers in new york

LOL!

I agree to only half. He is not yet a communist. His core beliefs are Marxist.

But it won't happen. It never does.

Why would we need tax increases if we are cutting our spending? Why not just cut?

I accept your surrender

The rightwings quest to redistribute income is so strong that they will not hesitate to use fictions to accuse others of lying without any evidence to support their claims

The rightwingers just are not intelligent enough to realize that this could be done. Instead, they kept agreeing to pass tax increases in return for a promise of future spending cuts. And now they want to blame their ineptitude on others. And the boobs think this qualifies them to run the economy

It never happens because the republican boobs don't really want to cut spending.

And funniest of all is that their current proposal doesnt cut one dime of spending; it merely promises that congress will cut spending in the future

More voters would blame Republicans than Obama in absence of debt limit deal, says poll

"If Congress is unable to come to a deal to increase America's debt ceiling, more Americans will blame Republicans than will blame President Obama, says a new poll by Quinnipiac University.

According to the survey, released on Thursday, 48 percent of Americans say they will blame Republicans, not President Obama, if the country's $14.3 debt limit is not raised. Thirty-four percent said they would blame Mr. Obama rather than the GOP"
