Obama officially threatens to veto 'Cut, Cap and Balance'

he White House on Monday warned President Obama will veto GOP legislation to “Cut, Cap and Balance” spending and the budget.

In a statement of administration policy, the White House Office of Management and Budget labeled the GOP bill as an “empty political statement.”

The House Rules Committee is expected to take up the measure on Monday, and it is likely to receive a floor vote on Tuesday. The measure would cut spending in Fiscal Year 2012 by $111 billion, cap future spending at 18 percent of gross domestic product and approve a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. It would also raise the debt limit

In its place, Obama and Democrats propose "Spend, No-Limit, Deficits"....or their other plan of "Tax, Tax, Tax, Tax".....and while Democrats will support some Spending cuts....its only if they are offset with Spending increases.......

........this is how liberals balance budgets....why every Democrat state and city is Bankrupt....and why every liberal utopia around the world is Bankrupt and approaching collapse.... Liberalism leads to Bankruptcy every time its tried.

It's easy for him to say when he knows that it will never get through the Senate but let the Dems block the only solution to come close to passing that would solve the problem.

We will wait until he comes up with a plan that might do better than his 0-97 budget did.

that's okay. the fact that he was foolish enough to say that he would will make for plenty a campaign ad in 2012.

Tell me again about how it's the GOP that is refusing to put forth anything and screaming my way or the highway? ;) someone has been projecting.

ya'll remember how you voted, now.

...The president's veto threat was followed by a full-on assault from administration officials who blasted the GOP proposal as "extreme, radical [and] unprecedented."...

...they think.... that a balanced budget.... is extreme, radical, and unprecedented.

yeah. that's gonna play real well.

Nobama strikes again.

No, I don't want spending capped...
No, I don't want to cut anything meaningful, and
No, I don't want to balance the budget!

And you're not touching my trains either!

Now, you either get that increase on my allowance real soon AND play "economy" they way I want to play it, or there just won't be an economy and y'all can starve for all I care.

You guys don't realize he's actually winning this battle do you? By a lot.

Obama approval on debt ceiling issue: 43%
GOP approval: 21%

The GOP have turned into stubborn reactionary ideologues with no interest in compromise since Obama entered office. Voters are starting to realize it.

As much as the right whines and bitches about Obama being this "leftist", "my way or the highway" kind of guy you do realize he has compromised on so many of his "radical" (which are not even radical) ideas. Hell he is even talking about cutting SS, Medicare, and medicaid... Seriously....

Given the choice between stubborn reactionary ideologues and a clueless demagogue who has run this country into the ground and hasn't a clue how to help turn this economy around, I think they'll make the wise choice and go with the former.

Your such a forgetful fella there badmutha....

Did you conveniently forget, that the GOP raised the debt ceiling seven times under George W. Bush, waged two unfunded wars and sponsored a drug program for seniors that is a total disaster.

If millionaires cannot be taxed more because they provide jobs, where are those jobs? They are overseas - just try to contact customer service at a major corporation.

The GOP now believes that fixing the country's financial difficulties is to place the burden on the middle class. Why not have our elected officials, like the middle class, give up some salary, contribute more to their health care plan and pension fund, give up some of their perks and pet projects that are not a necessity. They were not voted into office to become millionaires. As of yet, I have not heard one elected official give back or give up anything. All the GOP does is whine and soil their shorts over the poor downtrodden abused super rich and corporations need more tax cuts...is it any wonder there are lifelong republicans like me saying screw you far right greedy bastards...

It's not that people blame GOP more than Obama. It's because GOP voters are disgusted with EVERYONE in DC allowing this fiasco to linger, including Republicans. Republicans caving to Obama has voters very critical of their party. However, Obama supports support him no matter what; i.e. economy, unemployment, fraudulent birth certificate, insane spending, endless golf, billion dollar vacations, etc.

Thats not all true there are alot of long time republicans repulsed by the far right teaparty and their ideology of greed...their belief that everyone needs to be taken from and the spoils given to the super rich and corps...that have CREATED this mess

So posting that image has what to do with this current issue? Should I start gloating about the 2008 electoral map as well?

How, exactly? What policies have they suggested or implemented that would increase the tax burdens of the "middle class"?

It's also only half true. Dems only receive 33% support (he conveniently omitted that, not sure why). The impression of the republican plan is based on Ryan's plan, not on the most recent suggestions, as well.

He's being a Constitutional purist, exactly what I thought you wanted him to be.

Article 1 Section 8: The Congress shall have power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;...

So you want to follow the Constitution as our Founders intended, but also change it to suit your political goals? Sorry bud, can't claim both.

Do you know there's no direct connection between the phsyical space of a state and its total population? Yes Montana up there is a big red giant for example that could cover all the blue in New England, but its got just a fraction of the actual people... So you posted a map with shows land area, and made a claim about people....

Obama approval on debt ceiling issue: 43%
GOP approval: 21%

The GOP have turned into stubborn reactionary ideologues with no interest in compromise since Obama entered office. Voters are starting to realize it.

You realize that an actual reasoned and impartial review of those stats shows that the GOP's approval is largely that low not because of support for Obama or support for significant tax hikes over delayed spending, but rather because of significantly low approval on the part of Republicans themselves? You also realize multiple polls have came out showing Republicans significantly split between two camps....the one camp that feels we need to raise the debt ceiling but should get stuff out of it, and the other camp that feels we should not raise the debt ceiling. Notice neither camp is "raise taxes" or "do what Obama says".

Because of those two camps, Republicans are displeased with their congressional representitives because there are people of both camps in congress, meaning there are people in congress members of both camps can be disapproving of.

In all reality the polls show that things are rather normal in terms of your independents. More than 2/3rds of Democrats support the congressional Dem's, and the support for them hovers just under the national percentage of Democrats. The Republicans have a significant split, with over half the party being disapproving, so its explains why their approval number is lower. The President, historically, polls better than congress because its easier to express displeasure for the faceless entity that is the house and senate.

Its a heavily slanted reading, that bears little factual evidence when one looks closely at the results of the poll, to suggest that the low approval of what Republicans are doing and higher approval for what Obama is doing equates to significantly more people WANTING what Obama is supporting.

Additionally, you'd note, that none of the three entities that had the poll done about them recieved over 50% approval and all three had more disapproval than approval.

So in other words, your excuse is that people don't like Republicans anyway and prefer Obama + Democrats in general, so these numbers are no surprise?

I'll take it. But that's hardly a rock solid defense.
