    Don't have wikipedia?

El Cid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

El Cid went on to command a Moorish force consisting of Muladis, Berbers, Arabs and Malians, under Yusuf al-Mu'taman ibn Hud, Moorish king of the northeast Al-Andalus city of Zaragoza, and his successor, Al-Mustain II.
It doesn't say anything about his personal religion, but he seems to have at least fought on the side of Muslims.

As I said, it doesn't say anything about his personal religion, but he did fight on the same side as Moors.

    from the Encyclopedia Britannica online

    Service to the Muslims

The Cid in exile offered his services to the Muslim dynasty that ruled Zaragoza and with which he had first made contact in 1065. The king of Zaragoza, in northeastern Spain, al-Muʿtamin, welcomed the chance of having his vulnerable kingdom defended by so prestigious a Christian warrior. The Cid now loyally served al-Muʿtamin and his successor, al-Mustaʿīn II, for nearly a decade. As a result of his experience he gained that understanding of the complexities of Hispano-Arabic politics and of Islamic law and custom that would later help him to conquer and hold Valencia. Meanwhile, he steadily added to his reputation as a general who had never been defeated in battle. In 1082, on behalf of al-Muʿtamin, he inflicted a decisive defeat on the Moorish king of Lérida and the latter’s Christian allies, among them the count of Barcelona. In 1084 he defeated a large Christian army under King Sancho Ramírez of Aragon. He was richly rewarded for these victories by his grateful Muslim masters.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

That doesn't make him a muslim! You said he was, but thats false and a misrepresentation. He has a christian name, and fought with castille before Alfonso took the throne, and no one even knows the full story there, except that he still remained really popular in all of spain.

Where did I ever say he was a Muslim? Try reading.

Don't play that game. I quoted Hatuey, who claimed the El Cid is a muslim, and then you rush to his defense, and now you say no one said he was a muslim? try reading.

He spent most of his career leading Christian armies against the Moors... As far as I know, he was a Catholic... He was an important figure in the early part of the Reconquista...

You came up with a citation in response to a request for one where Hatuey made the claim that he was Muslim.

Of course, once again Hatuey cuts and runs when he is called on his mistakes, but we expect that from him...

El Cid was a Christian, not a Muslim... something confirmed by haymarket's link as well as this

He spent most of his life fighting for Catholic kingdoms, not Muslim...
