Glenn Beck Moves to Dallas, Texas

I've heard the same about both men as well. I think they both get a bad rap in the media because the media tries to smear anyone with whom they disagree.

um....they are the media. lol.

They are the media as well and smear and attack. You make it sound like "the media" is one sided..

SheWolf, when you can get me actual numbers instead of liberal blog's "estimations" (thesmirkingchimp....really???), then I'll listen. Since you know people in Wilmington, why don't you get that information?

I have given you info, but you choose to look the other way... Beck didn't sign a book, shake a hand, give an autograph, or take a photo with anybody that didn't pay. He comes into town and says, "Let's save Wilmington" but doesn't actually interact with the townspeople at all. Rolls in with his bus, gives a performance to his fans, charges them to shake his hand, and then he leaves.

You can look up how many people the Murphy can hold x 145 ticke price, and do the math yourself. You're acting like this is highly confidential information and it's not. It's easy to look into.

I could easily sit here and do the math with you but you'd probably debate it, because your drinking Beck koolaide.

What else do you want me to do? Give you people's personal phone numbers?

Why is this news?

She, the theatre holds 999 people. Ticket prices were $125 and I don't think it was sold out (I could be wrong). That's nowhere near $300,000. The "proof" you're giving are from liberal blogs. I could write a blog that said SheWolf kills puppies but that doesn't make it true.

It's $124,875 raised, and this number doesn't include the meet and greets... He donated $44,000, but it appears a lot more was collected in ticket sales than was actually donated.

No, he didn't donate $44,000, he donated $95,000 from what I tallied up. That includes the the $44,000 to local businesses and charities and $51,000 to the Theatre to help with it's renovation. Included in the $51,000 were the proceeds from the personal items from his house Glenn sold online.

And your link to the Hillsboro newspaper says the Theatre holds 769 people, so that's only.....huh....$96,000. How many meet and greet tickets were sold?

I don't know how many meet and greet tickets were sold... but he is already over 95,000

and btw... He donated that 51,000 to the Murphy for renovations months later and was asked for a donation. The fact is, he turned a profit on Wilmington.

Yes, you're right. However, you have to take into account a few other things. He had to rent the theater and pay the city of Wilmington for their help with security. Do we know how much those things cost? I don't know. But your "proof" that he kept $256,000 of charity money is losing ground quickly.

So he most likely donated almost all if not the entire amount back to the city of Wilmington. Not only that, but he spent thousands of dollars in hotel rooms and food for his staff and family. He also brought thousands of people into Wilmington who spent thousands of dollars on hotels and food. They also purchased from stores there, ate at Wilmington restaurants, purchased books at the bookstore (gasp!) and donated to local charities themselves. Do you know the bookstore had to hire 3 more people just to keep up with the popularity of their store because of Glenn and his show? Evil, huh? The food pantry received a year worth's of donations from that weekend alone. *shudder* Almost Hitleresque, eh?

This was a GOOD event, SheWolf. The facts support it. You might hate the guy and his beliefs, but you can't say this event wasn't great for the town of Wilmington.

Okay, but now you're doing the same thing you accuse SW of doing.

There's no perhaps about it. Why do you think most republicans believe Obama is a Muslim?

I'm torn between them being willfully ignorant, or plum stupid.

And so was Glenn. Your blind hatred for this man is juvenile.

Glenn's charitable contributions do not make him a decent human being. It's dirty money, made on the backs on naive people who support this idiot and are incapable of seeing him for the flim flam man that he is.

It wasn't great for Wilmington. He isn't considered a hero there. As I keep saying, the only local people that got involved were Beck fans because he charged you for everything. He charged you to take a photo with him.

Exactly, she doesn't have proof of anything and this isn't even my biggest concern. My biggest complaint is that he didn't come to Wilmington wanting to make friends and spread Christmas joy as he put on. He stuck to his fans and charged locals to meet him, and it's well know the locals were economically suffering.

The local people weren't involved with the event. Yeah, they came and threw a party.. maybe they spent some money here and there, but I am betting they mostly dined and ate at the places Beck's people scouted out, because those are the only places he went.... so the majority of the people who benefited were pre approved by Beck scouts.

This alone makes Beck look like a fraud and Mellie just glosses over it.

I watched beck all the time, and i don't get the hate impression these liberals on here get at all... he must reeeeeeaaaalllllllyy get on their nerves, i like that :)
Fear-mongering? i don't get scared that easy... at all. I just see Beck stating his worries and evidence and i dont ever feel intimidated into believing something. I just usually get the feeling... damn, Liberals just suck at real life... mostly good intentions are not nearly good enough.
reminds me of a quote by David Horowitz
"A key to the mentality of the left is that it judges itself by its best intentions, and judges its opponents - America chief among them - by their worst deeds."

It continues to amaze me that Glen Beck and people like him have little camp followers. Who gives a fat rat's ass where Glenn Beck, the media creation, lives?

What a strange think to like.

Maybe in a few years they will think more about their Beck mania and realize nobody is always right.
