Mass Murder in Michigan

the NYC stats prove that lesser gun-laws does not neccessarily mean lower crime.

The crime rate in NYC has gone up. So, there is alot of proof that stricter gun laws mean more crime.

This thread is a good example of why guns nuts on either side are viewed mostly as nuts. Everything that happens, they make it about guns, instead of what actually happened. News story reported, most people see a terrible, tragic murder. All gun nuts see is guns and how this can either support their pet issue, or be used against it.

Hint: guns are just ****ing tools. get over them.

Oh for crying out loud...Grand Rapids is the red in a blue state.

Actually most of the state of Michigan is pretty red, with the exception of Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing, and parts of Flint.

Well, most of the state is Reagan democrats really. Detroit/Ann Arbor/Lansing are very blue, and Grand Rapids is glow in the dark red. The Gerald R Ford museum in GR is a place to visit though if you ever get up that way again and have not been.

how about a trial first?

the mope is currently in a standoff with the police and holding a hostage

shooting the guy now is hardly going to be a miscarriage of justice

Looks like you got what you wanted. He shot himself in the head. The hostages are unharmed.

Don't you just love the way Liberals make up phony statistics and other lies, and half the time they seem to believe them.

Remove guns crime goes up, fact of life. Crime up Down Under
Since Australia banned private ownership of most guns in 1996, crime has risen dramatically on that continent, prompting critics of U.S. gun control efforts to issue new warnings of what life in America could be like if Congress ever bans firearms.

•Countrywide, homicides are up 3.2 percent;
•Assaults are up 8.6 percent;
•Amazingly, armed robberies have climbed nearly 45 percent;
In the Australian state of Victoria, gun homicides have climbed 300 percent;
•In the 25 years before the gun bans, crime in Australia had been dropping steadily;
•There has been a reported "dramatic increase" in home burglaries and assaults on the elderly.

Make guns more plentiful crime goes down.

States with right-to-carry laws have lower overall violent crime rates, compared to states without right-to-carry laws. In states whose laws respect the citizen\'s right-to-carry guns for self defense the total violent crime is 13% lower, homicide is 3% lower, robbery is 26% lower and aggravated assault is 7% lower. (Data: Crime in the United States 1996, FBI Uniform Crime Reports)

My theory on why Conceal and Carry works on getting the violent crime rate down: Would you be as apt to hold somebody up and rob them if you didn't know whether or not they were packing?:shoot

NYC has a lower robbery rate than many cities that have much looser conceal & carry laws.
