Obama Administration Passes DREAM ACT by Executive Memo

There we go folks, no need to know what's going on from the Feds, just trust everything they do, cause "us idiots" might get upset.

This is what we call a straw man.

This is what we call a straw man.

No, it's not. You said it yourself, they covered up what they were doing because "idiots" would get upset. Conclusion, we really don't need ot know what's going on because "idiots" would get upset, just trust them.

But we both know you were just using passive aggressive wording to insults the posters in this thread that disagree with you.

No, and no. Wrong on both counts. They did not publicize because people would be upset over something that amounts to nothing, as this thread demonstrates.

You saw that it came from Hotair.com and they're a buncha Conservatives--excuse me, racist Conservatives--who hate Obama because he's black and can't see through their hatred to see how wonderful he really is, hence the reason that you can't understand why anyone would believe that he would never do anything like this. You probably believe that he isn't working on gun control, "under the radar, either.

Can you honestly not understand why people would like an unbiased source from you? Unless you're willing to accept all media matters posts as the gospel without being able to question them then you can't expect people to accept an idiotic right wing blog to be used as if it were a proper source.

Time to remove this SOB from office through impeachment and defund everything he wants.

This bastard is anti American and violates the Constitution all the damn time.

I have made a point to always say I don't hate the person, I hate the sin. but with Obama ot's getting really hard to hold to that.

Name any piece of legislation he signed that has been deemed by the Supreme Court to be in violation of the Constitution? Just because the Talking Heads and his Republican counterparts say so doesn't mean it is so. But to dispel the notions I believe you have:

Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act - One lower District Court ruled against the new law; one lower District Court ruled against the "individual mandate only". The Supreme Court hasn't taken up the case yet. Verdict is still out.

Trust Fund from BP Oil Spill - His authority to establish the fund comes from the Oil Pollution Act. Read it and you'll find that only the President has the authority to compel a private oil company to pay for damages and lost wages from such a natural disaster.

"Hostilities" in Libya - Used War Powers Act to commit U.S. Armed Forces to hostilities in the region (w/the support of 3 U.N. Resolutions); hasn't violated the Constitution because neither country has declared war upon the other by their rulers.

Those are the only three major issues I believe those on the Right (and perhaps even some on the Left) are questionable over, but if they'd just read the laws or try to better understand the given situation, perhaps they wouldn't be given to such hyperbol such as you've clearly exhibited.

YahooNews just released a new article on the so-called "backdoor to amnesty" memo by the ICE Directors. From the article:

In the memo, ICE Chief John Morton reminds agents that they can practice "prosecutorial discretion" in deciding which people to attempt to deport in court. The Obama administration has consistently said its priority is to deport illegal immigrants who pose a safety threat to their communities or have engaged in immigration fraud. But this memo lays out that position in far greater detail, asking agents to take "particular care and consideration" when illegal immigrants are veterans, minors or elderly, have been in the United States for a long time, are the victims of crimes, or are pregnant or suffer from health problems.

Ali Noorani of the pro-reform National Immigration Forum told The Lookout that though the memo is largely a compilation of the administration's stated immigration priorities, it is noteworthy for stressing that ICE agents at many levels can use prosecutorial discretion.

"At the end of the day it means that an attorney within ICE, instead of spending his time prosecuting a landscaper, can go after a criminal," Noorani says.

He points out that Clinton official Doris Meissner articulated a similar policy of prosecutorial discretion in 2000 for the precursor agency to ICE, the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

....

Obama has presided over a record-breaking number of deportations. ICE increased the number of convicted criminals it deported by 70 percent in two years--from 114,415 in 2008 to 195,722 in 2010, by using its "Secure Communities" fingerprinting program that scours local jails for illegal immigrants. Nearly 400,000 people were deported in fiscal 2010, about half of them with no criminal records. Morton said 400,000 represents the maximum number of deportations the agency can handle per year.

Just food for thought...

This thread is freaking ridiculous. What people will believe is unbelievable.

When the premise is that no matter what the man says or does, he is Bad or Wrong, **** like this thread happen.

This type of ignorant reaction is exactly what those offering the lies here want. They want people to blindly lash out. They will remember the emotion, and not the fact they where lied to shamelessly. They hope people cannot be bothered to actually read on what they claim. They adore ignorance. By reacting like this, you are giving power to those who use lies for political gain. The best we can hope for is those who cannot be bothered to read a few ****ing minutes do not vote.

I posted in response to the OP, before I had read the rest of the thread. It seems that the policy in question was implemented by ICE, not the administration, which does not lessen my annoyance at the policies described in the June, 2010, memo.

I am not ignorant. I do not adore ignorance. I can be bothered to read a few ****ing minutes. And as unfortunate as you may find it, I do indeed vote.

I hope that clears things up for you.

Post number one is based on misinformation. . .
I was not confused. Of course, I admit that I followed the link and read it.

“A new enforcement memo handed down by the director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement last week has some accusing the White House of running around Congress to implement the DREAM Act – and consequent amnesty for some illegal immigrants – by executive fiat.
The new memo, penned by ICE Director John Morton, directs ICE agents, attorneys and directors to exercise “prosecutorial discretion” – meaning less likelihood of deportation – for illegal aliens who have been students in the U.S., who have been in the country since childhood or who have served in the American military.”

Soo where is the proof other than HotAir.com, freerepublic.com, frumforum.com, and teaparty.org which all link back to HotAir.com?
Are you guys really that naive and believe everything you see that furthers your cause? Really? Seriously?

Are you claiming that the ICE Memo does not exist? Really? Seriously?

The claims by some people on here that there is a path to citizenship was not stated by the original poster. It was frequently stated by his detractors.
It is clear that ICE has decided that they will not prosecute illegal aliens if they can find a reason not to. Among the reasons are phrases remarkably similar to those found in the failed DREAM Act.

And the head of ICE is a Senior Executive Service position. Therefore this is an Executive Memo.

It is an indicator of just how deep our distrust is. Next time it is anybody but the Marxist.

I don't comment on current ICE stuff on forums anymore as per advice from coworkers, but let me just say that a directive from the ICE Director is NOT an executive order from the President. The ICE director can issue orders without approval from the White House.

Do you have the ICE Memo?
How did this not get a single source of news coverage? Because the DREAM Act is huge and has gotten a ton of news attention and with Obama supposedly passing it with an "executive memo" could be great rating s and debate with these "news" stations.
Did you fail to see this tho?:

You have the resources to prosecute two of four cases:

1) Mid-20's man with known gang affiliations and suspected of several felonies
2) Late-50's woman working for a home cleaning service, clean record
3) Person with name matching an entry on the terrorist watch list
4) College student working on physics degree, clean record

The memo says go with 1 and 3 under the circumstances. What would you do?

Somehow, the right-wingers are under the impression that this means amnesty.

This is what the memo says. It says ICE has limited resources and that these resources should be prioritized towards cases with stronger national security implications. It does not say anybody should be granted amnesty and it does not grant anybody citizenship. Jesus, the right wing really does live in a different universe. The lunatics must be under the impression that ICE actually does have unlimited resources... it's the only way their conclusion would be remotely logical

Peas in a pod. Do you think he would independently mimic some of the key phrases if he was not the one term president Obama's lap dog?

Presidents have been using the EO to legislate for some time now. It's not new. It should be stopped; but we don't seem to have any interest in that.

Please read the thread. it did not happen. No EO, no Executive Memo.

Do you have the ICE Memo?
One must actually read the link. If you choose not to why participate?

It is still early.

Your words. The links is quite clear that is the head of ICE. ICE is part of the Executive branch. The head of ICE is SES. Therefore the memo is an executive memo. Only the detractors such as yourself have said this memo was put out by the one term president Obama. One must love red herring.

Yep, no sign of Amnesty at all. Seriously, can you reach a deeper level of political hackery Redress?
Afaict, there's no pardoning going on.

Are there any differences between not prosecuting all 12million illegal immigrants and giving them pardons/amnesty?
