In the wake of the recent memo from the Obama administration which announced “prosecutorial discretion” in dealing with illegal aliens, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents across the country have been speaking out what many of them are calling a “backdoor amnesty.”

On Wednesday, ICE Union president Chris Crane told PRNewswire: “Any American concerned about immigration needs to brace themselves for what's coming. This is just one of many new ICE policies in queue aimed at stopping the enforcement of U.S. immigration laws in the United States. Unable to pass its immigration agenda through legislation, the Administration is now implementing it through agency policy.”

Crane continued: “ICE and the Administration have excluded our union and our agents from the entire process of developing policies, it was all kept secret from us, we found out from the newspapers. ICE worked hand-in-hand with immigrants rights groups, but excluded its own officers.”

Crane said: “The desires of foreign nationals illegally in the United States were the framework from which these policies were developed. The result is a means for every person here illegally to avoid arrest or detention, as officers we will never know who we can or cannot arrest.”

Perhaps, most troubling are the “secret” orders under which ICE agents are reportedly now operating.

“Our officers are already under orders not to make arrests or even talk to foreign nationals in most cases unless another agency has already arrested them; you won't find that written in any public ICE policy,” Crane said.

Finally, this warning from the ICE Union president: “I think the writing is on the wall for every person concerned about good government and effective immigration reforms - the things happening at ICE represent neither. We are asking everyone to please email or call your Congressman and Senators immediately and ask them to help stop what's happening at ICE, we desperately need your help.”

Of course, the DREAM Act and so-called Comprehensive Immigration Reform (amnesty) have been defeated many times in Congress, due to public outrage.

However, as Obama’s poll numbers continue to slip, he has apparently once again, decided to bypass Congress this time in his pursuit of Latino votes.

Not unexpected. Obama and his crew are a well known quantity now.

.

No comment other than that's the ICE union, not ICE agents, warning Americans to brace themselves :golf:

Obama has no respect for "We the People" the Law or the Constitution so this is no surprise.

It is really time to put him out of office.

I take it I'm the only one who read the memo?

Because it doesn't say what you guys seem to think it says. When you start with a pre-determined, partisan opinion (Obama wants to grant amnesty to all illegals) you will interpret everything related to the subject in that light. The memo could be summarized like this:

"ICE has limited resources and cannot always address every violation it comes across. When this happens, prioritize cases where factors indicate a greater potential for a national security risk. I.E. the guy with no criminal record pursuing a physics doctorate probably ranks lower on the list than the guy with known gang affiliations and is suspected to have committed several felonies."

It even explicitly states:
As there is no right to the favorable exercise ofdiscretion by the agency, nothing in this memorandum should be construed to prohibit the apprehension, detention, or removal of any alien unlawfully in the United States or to limit the legal authority of ICE or any of its personnel to enforce federal immigration law.

You want stronger immigration enforcement? Pay for it. Oh wait, can't raise spending!

That's been my position all along!

Folks keep complaining about illegal aliens coming into this country, yet very few politicians want to appropriate funds necessary to increase the number of board security agents. Instead, they want to go the cheap way - put the National Guard on the boarders, people who are weekend warriors ill-trained to combat the illegal alien problem. More to the point, this country has lost its focus since 9/11 as to who the real illegal alien threat is!

Instead of going after Middle-Easterners who come here masked as students, tourist or those seeking employment, Republicans and Reagan Democrats alike are going after the "soft-immigration targets" - illegal Mexicans - but they do so only because:

1) it makes them look good for going after "people who have broken the law" or allegedly have a high propencity of committing illegal activity; and,
2) illegal alien activity can be explained in economic terms many people can understand even if some aspects of the explanations given do more to help a business's bottom line than it does to hurt (i.e., cheap labor).

I'll say it here and now!! YOU'RE SYSTEMATICALLY GOING AFTER THE WRONG PEOPLE!!! Go find Mosul Ak-mid Mulhamid the briefcase carrying suicide bomb maker and leave Jose Rodrigez whose only crime has been that he enter the country illegally with his parents when he was 2 months old and is now 18 yr old and still picking vegetables with his moms alone.

Sure you can, just lower it elsewhere.

No, but we could stop bombing Libya and stop the other wars already.

The US is bombing Libya?

But you can partner with the States which this adminstration is not willing to do, by the fact the Feds have taken States to court that have passed illegal immigration laws.

This is chilling. Our government has become a terrorist against its own citizens. This terrifies me.

My solution would be to pull all our military from overseas and redirect them to you know actually protecting our country instead of policing our politics and interests of corporate America globally.

We don't need to do that to protect our borders. It's not an either/or proposition.

Do you really believe that our entire military is overseas?

No, what I am meaning is I feel we should pull back all our forces that are abroad and stop our global manipulation and world policing. We could then use those resources to secure our own borders.

It doesn't work that way. First of all, soldiers cannot enforce laws. Look up posse comitatus. And that said, the majority of our troops are here in the US. You can look up an exact number but somewhere from 51 to 75 percent of US troops are stationed on base here in the US, not around "manipulating the world".

The statute prohibits Army and Air Force personnel and units of the National Guard under federal authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within the United States, except where expressly authorized by the Constitution or Congress

If we militarized our borders it would greatly cut down on illegal emigrants entering our country.

Maybe we should stop spending money on things that aren't in teh Constitution, I'd say that the BILLIONS we send out as foreign aide could be stopped ot ya know..

Enforce the borders.

Isolationism is not the answer.

Melodramatic much?

I'm terrified by people who perceive a threat to themselves when a memo says: with limited resources, prioritize someone with a criminal record over someone who does not.

But you can't see that through your outrageously partisan lenses.

"Terrorist against its own citizens." People who are paranoid will be terrified by anything.
