Rush Limbaugh launches his own brand of (patriotic) iced tea

With every purchase a donation is made to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation.

I hate tea, in any form, but my family drinks it like it's going out of style. I could buy them tea, from anywhere and they would love it, but I'm going to purchase some of Limbaugh's brand, because of the donations he will make from part of the proceeds.

No matter what anyone things of Rush, the donations to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation should be enough for them to buy a case. Unless you hate military and law enforcement orphans, in which case, ****, don't buy it.

Thank you for proving my earlier point. So a person who doesn't buy this tea hates the military and law enforcement orphans? Is that honestly what you are suggesting here? You know, if you really do care about the military so much and law enforcement orphans, why not just make a donation to the Foundation independently of buying this tea?

I already have. It's the primary reason I bought a case of Two If By Tea, for my wife and kids to drink, vice any other packaged tea on the market. Have you made a donation to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation? Or, do you wish to just politicize it?

FYI--not that it's any of your ****ing business--but, I've made donations to the Marine Corps - Law Enforcement Foundation, Wounded Warriors, Freedom Alliance and the Purple Heart Car Donation Program. What have you done?

I would donate a lot more, but since the government ****ed up my revenue stream, I can't afford it.

Do you have a snarky, unintelligent, dumb-ass response to everyone that doesnt like what YOU like? What you said doesnt even make sense. Its like the world is filled with evil liberals or super god-like GOP suporters. No one rational thinks like that Ptif. Im sure youre a nice guy but your responses are.... lame.

No more than your hate and character assassination of Rush

The slogan should be "teabag your thirst!"

Are you serious? Now you are the victim? You just accused someone of not liking the troops simply because they didn't want to buy Rush Limbaugh's ****ty brand of tea. You are the one politicizing it.

Good for you. I never implied that I was somehow better than you or that I donated anything to anyone. You are simply getting defensive because you are being called out on the same kind of **** that you call others out on.

It's a pretty clear violation of Flag Code: the flag shall not be used for advertising purposes.

Just out of curiosity, for those who are so ardently defending Rush Limbaugh's tea and not interested in politicizing it:

Let's say it was Keith Olbermann who came out with a brand of tea and donated the same percentage of the proceeds to the same foundation. How many of you would be buying cases of the stuff?

So I'm not patriotic unless I give Rush Limbaugh, the person who has probably contributed the most to convincing the more simple minded conservatives of the country that all liberals are evil, 24 dollars so that he can donate a buck or two or maybe alittle more to a very worthy cause?

Sorry, not buying his bull**** or yours apdst.

Hey apdst, if you care so much, why not rather donate all the money you would have spent on this tea to the foundation rather than whatever % Rush deems an acceptable dent in his profit margin, or do you only care about orphans and the military when Rush tells you when and how?

This whole buy a product with percentage going to good cause is a tricky thing.

It makes it easy to donate money to a cause. It also allows a company to prey on your good conscience.

I have always wondered about Girl Scout cookies. Who can turned down a little girl scout selling those wonderful Mint cookies. But how much do they really get off the dollar? It is a win-win for the cookie manufacturer as they do not have to pay for adverisement or a middleman. Without the cookie sell how many of us would actually take the time to give money to the scouts?

As in this case of Limbaugh, it is once him wrapping himself in the flag to prove how much more patriotic he is than others. If he was really patriotic (for a draft dodger) then why not just ship every single bottle to our boys in the Middle East where they could use a cold ice tea.

I get pretty sick of those that like to wrap themselves in the flag and use it as a marketing scheme as Limbaugh has done here but i also don't like the idea of hypothetical "well if he was really patriotic... etc" stuff. Everyone can have a different way of showing it and I don't think it's anyone's job of determining just how patriotic someone is, even if the person is a bloated bag of tirds like Limbaugh.

Probably about the same amount I would be buying, now.

Yeah, I don't believe that for a second.

Actually I believe him

He is not buying any now, he stated he is unlikely to buy any of an Oberman tea in the future

Does a picture of a flag come under the flag code though?

Sure enough. To wit:
The words "flag, standard, colors, or ensign", as used herein, shall include any flag, standard, colors, ensign, or any picture or representation of either, or of any part or parts of either, made of any substance or represented on any substance, of any size evidently purporting to be either of said flag, standard, colors, or ensign of the United States of America or a picture or a representation of either, upon which shall be shown the colors, the stars and the stripes, in any number of either thereof, or of any part or parts of either, by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag, colors, standard, or ensign of the United States of America.

If someone claims ultra-patriotism, it is crappy to use it to sell some crap. I use it because I believe in it. I carry it onward, to foreign lands. My tea is different.

Him and his garbage can go to hell.

There, now Guy got me upset. I hope you're all happy. Damn Rush piece of crap.

Sure enough. To wit:

Sadly, the flag code debate has happened many many times on DP. Every single time it goes nowhere. If your interpretation of the flag code is correct, then there are several violations in popular culture and in shops nationwide. Why the selective outrage over this particular instance? I personally think there are bigger problems with Rush Limbaugh's tea than the flag code violations.

OT remember Billy Beer?

Why not just buy a sports bottle, make some tea, and donate the difference to charity?

You get to adjust the amount of steeping and sugar for your own pleasure anyway.

Why ask a question when you're not going to believe the answers you get anyway?

I asked it to mainly prove a point. I didn't expect honesty. It's hard to get honesty from someone who is extremely partisan.
