Obama now joking about his own giant economic failures

And the Leftists really think this cat's going to get re-elected? Really?!?

...remember how angry we all were when he admitted that “shovel-ready” public works projects — the ostensible target of the stimulus — um, don’t really exist? The Democrats spent weeks before he was inaugurated selling voters on the concept and did a good enough job that they ended up with a $787 billion check from Congress for their trouble.

You think an "I ****ed up joke" is going to cause him not to get reelected?

No, but an admission to outright lieing his ass off will. He new when he said it that there weren't any, "shovel ready projects".

It's not an, "I ****ed up", joke. It's an, "I lied my ass off and you fell for it", joke. Or an, "I spent a trillion dollars of your money on nothing", joke. better yet an, "I totally cocked things up and now I'm willing to do anything to bail my dumbass out, including making a joke about it", joke.

Congress gave a good portion of that money to the states in order to be used on public works projects. The states didn't use the money on those types of projects. So who really is to blame?

Oh look, another molehill to turn into a mountain because it feels like a gotcha and gives partisan hacks a reason to gloat through their typical misunderstanding of issues.

I don't think injecting humor into the situation, even self-depricating humor, is going to work to his benefit. Some of us are still pretty pissed about him mocking border security needs when he made a stop in El Paso awhile back. When people put faith into him to lead the charge and help get bills through congress that would jump-start the economy, the last thing they want to hear when they're two or three years into unemployment is him joking about how it didn't quite work out. Honesty may be commendable, but it isn't going to make people say, "Hey, he's honest. Even though I'm worse off than I was in 2008 (or no better off), I think I'll give him another four years because he's being so honest right now".
