Here ya go.How about $2.8 trillion offset.Thata work.:2wave:

<A group of House Democrats is calling for any deal to raise the debt ceiling to bring about the end of the Bush tax rates for the wealthy.>

<“At this point, both government and private-sector economists agree that sharp immediate cuts in government spending risk plunging our economy into a double-dip recession that will cost further jobs and ultimately worsen our fiscal situation,” the lawmakers wrote in a letter obtained by The Hill.>

<They added that allowing the Bush tax rates for the wealthiest to expire at the end of next year would by itself “stop the growth of the deficit over the next decade.” >

Except those "rosey" projections of economic gain never come to fruition. What happens is the "wealthy" look for ways to avoid the taxes, and revenue, and investments slow. Only in lala land does raising taxes in an economic challenged time seem like a bright idea.

I hope they get it. I am eager for the coming revolution.

typical welfare socialist pandering. They need to call for everyone paying income taxes rather than just jacking up the taxes on the people who

1) pay too much

2) can hurt the economy the most by not spending

I know you don't mean it that way, but that actually sounds like the middle class if you ask me.

The Democrats are just fight "hyperbole we don't think we're really going to get" with "hyperbole we don't thinkg we're really going to get." They're positioning themselves for the next election so they can say "Republicans want to kill your Grandma so Bill Gates doesn't have to pay taxes." Republicans get to say "We wanted to cut spending, but Democrats wouldn't let us," and so the world turns to the next election cycle.

I am a steadfast democrat and a liberal, but I do not want those tax cuts even touched in any way until they get that tax code under control and the 47% of Americans and all of the corporations who pay ZERO dollars in taxes start paying also.

As I noted earlier (another thread I think) here is why things are screwed up

the GOP cuts taxes without paying the price politically by cutting handouts to the parasites and military spending that would get the hawks upset. They figure a high deficit will hamstring the next dem administration forcing the dems to cut spending-which is what the GOP wants (but they don't want to pay the price for it)

The dems come into power and they continue the spending to buy votes but they jack up the deficit hoping it will cause the subsequent GOP congress to either raise taxes or sustain dem tax hikes in order to cope with the deficit. The GOP rarely does that so the deficit goes up

Too many people have NO CLUE about the debt because TOO MANY PEOPLE aren't paying for what they use and don't suffer tax hikes (or even pay federal income taxes) when the government increases vote buying spending

The economy is in the trash people are no spending money because they fear what may come next and Dems want to make things worse.

Typical lack of knowledge and the history of tax cuts helping the economy going back to JFK, and Reagan.

The next move will be raising the estate tax to the pre Reagan ara.:rock

:lamo:lamo:lamo
A Democrat who wants the "families with children, the elderly, low income households, those who either have too little income to pay taxes " pay taxes. Thought I would never see the day.

I support the idea that everyone should pay their fair share of taxes.

Who Pays Taxes? Not As Many As You Think : NPR
Mr. ROBERTON WILLIAMS (Senior Fellow, Tax Policy Center): By our estimate, about 47 percent of Americans will not pay any federal income tax for 2009. The people involved in that tend to be families with children, the elderly, low income households, those who either have too little income to pay taxes or who benefit enough from all the deductions, credits and exemptions in the income tax, so they're zeroed out on the bottom line of their 1040.

...allowing the Bush tax rates for the wealthiest to expire at the end of next year would by itself “stop the growth of the deficit over the next decade.”
This is a lie.

I think Hell just froze over. I agree with you.

The 47% that you are referring to only covers fed income tax. CBO data shows that the poorest of the poor (average income of $18,400 in 07 bucks) paid 4% of their incomes in federal taxes. When state and local taxes kick in, you have them paying 12.3 percent of their incomes in state and local taxes.

The next step up the Ladder, incomes between $20,500 and $34,300 paying 10 percent in federal taxes, when every thing is kicked in this group pays 20.7 percent to the tax man.

This graph pretty well explains what group pays what.

The wingers are doing their best to convince you and I that they are carrying the load, the only load that they are carrying is the load in the wallet…all the way to the bank.

The bottom 20 percent has an income of $10,655 on average, the top 20 percent picked up$160,000.Kinda looks like banana America is the next stop.:(

You do know those are percentages of income and not percentages of what they pay to the total?

Does it also include income tax refunds in its figures? Because that will flatten a lot of the low income percentages into actual negatives. Anyone care to compare what 3 income tax credits does to a family of three with 2 of them making the bottom end of the ladder Don is talking about? Because Im betting they are getting back somewhere in the neighborhood of $2500 to $6k in taxes back come refund time.

Honestly everyone should face the same tax burden. That's why progressive tax rate is effective and fair. Unless someone is really really dirt poor, as in can't afford food, shelter, and clothing, they should be paying taxes at the same burden as someone earning 40 million a year. And don't tell me that 47% of Americans not paying taxes and the corporations who paid NO taxes are dirt poor.

you really are hateful of those who do better than you do?

Nah,not hateful to anyone, just want those that made out like bandits the last decade to pay their fair share.

Go to the range and shoot at a few more targets…they don’t shot back. Its unlikely that you will get hurt their. Take your earmuffs though, wouldn’t want your delicate hearing damaged.:2wave:

Do you refer to the people who have provided an enormous array of goods and services tht have made your life enjoyable and easy? Those guys? The ones who provided products you, and others wanted to buy? those guys?

How much is their fair share?
o 10% of the total amount the government takes from the productive?
o 20% of the total amount the government takes from the productive?
o 30% of the total amount the government takes from the productive?
o 40% of the total amount the government takes from the productive?
o 100% of the total amount the government takes from the productive?

Former Army office here. I will be fine.

Oh no! That would take us to those crippling taxes we saw during the Clinton administration, when America's economy was on the brink of collapse!

Just more class-envy bull**** from the Democrats.

Raise them back again on everybody, or raise them on nobody.

Note: The recommendation of the President's own deficit reduction committee was a $3 reduction in spending for every $1 increase in taxes. A complete suspension of the Bush tax cuts might produce $350 billion per year in increased revenue. Let's make it easy .... that equates to a partnered reduction in spending of over $1 trillion per year.

Obama couldn't find $4 trillion in 12 years, and the Democrats are screaming "bloody murder" at Ryan's proposal of $6 trillion in 10 years. So once again, the Democrats are full of ****.
