House Dems to call for expiration of Bush tax rates in debt-limit deal

As you set the tone, it would seem you have stupidity down pat. ;)

I addressed Reich. You snipe.

47% of households in Amerca pay no Federal Income Tax. It is not an anomaly.

And who is to blame for this? Lets dig out a State of the Union speech

http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/George_W._Bush's_First_State_of_the_Union_Address

For lower-income families, my tax plan restores basic fairness. Right now, complicated tax rules punish hard work. A waitress supporting two children on $25,000 a year can lose nearly half of every additional dollar she earns above the 25,000. For overtime, her hardest hours, are taxed at nearly 50 percent. This sends a terrible message: You will never get ahead. But America’s message must be different. We must honor hard work, never punish it.
With tax relief, overtime will no longer be overtax time for the waitress. People with the smallest incomes will get the highest percentage reductions. And millions of additional American families will be removed from the income tax rolls entirely.

You can thank President George Bush for that.

Here ya go.How about $2.8 trillion offset.Thata work.:2wave:

<A group of House Democrats is calling for any deal to raise the debt ceiling to bring about the end of the Bush tax rates for the wealthy.>

<“At this point, both government and private-sector economists agree that sharp immediate cuts in government spending risk plunging our economy into a double-dip recession that will cost further jobs and ultimately worsen our fiscal situation,” the lawmakers wrote in a letter obtained by The Hill.>

<They added that allowing the Bush tax rates for the wealthiest to expire at the end of next year would by itself “stop the growth of the deficit over the next decade.” >

House Dems to call for expiration of Bush tax rates in debt-limit deal - The Hill's On The Money

How come the Democrats never consider spending less? You know, spend less money?

As noted, the tax system has gone through machinations that have brought us to the current point. Part of the "compromises" that got us here were such that the bottom 47% doesn't pay squat. Now the whining bottom-feeding moochers want taxes raised just on the rich, ignoring that any tax break they got was part of the deal that took some tax burden off all of us.

Its BS wealth envy, starting to become a panic, as the mocchers realize they are running out of OPM.

dems get most of their votes by promising lots of voters lots of spending paid for by a minority of tax payers

It's a real dilemma isn't it? I guess you can't decide whether you love Bush now or not.

My mind was made up a very long time ago. No dilemma at all... for me. But I imagine the harsh reality of just who is responsible for that 47% kicks you pretty hard when you have to face it.

. . .fair share isn't what you can afford. fair share is what you use and what you pay for
But remember, many of our friends on the left are closet Marxists. They believe it is a shame that Karl was not able to get one or two of his catch phrases into our Constitution. We here the soft, sweet refrain over and over and over...from each according to his abilities (they don't pay their fair share), to each according to his needs (the middle class, the poor, and union members should pay less, preferably nothing).

You just have to recognize them for what they are.

The the wealthy are the ones who create the jobs in our Nation. Look at what over taxing and stupid regulations have done to jobs and businesses in California.

Liberals don't seem to care bout the damage the do as lomg as they get their way.

Right...that must be why the "wealthy" have been creating sooo many jobs over the past decade as taxes approach their lowest levels for nearly 100 years. Hell, taxes haven't been this low since right before the Great Depression and before the US went from a second rate nation to a world power.

Yet somehow the right-wing can never seem to put the pieces of the "puzzle" together...

parasites in many cases

America was on its way of becoming the greatest nation in the world with no death taxes or income taxes

are we getting stronger now that the rich pay 40% of the income tax and all the death tax?

and no right wing neologisms either like the Republican Party ordered "death tax" to replace the estate tax ..... oh well. Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

universal health care requires some of us to pay for the health care of others

that clearly is unconstitutional to those of us who understand that document

Almost as unconstitutional as undeclared wars eh?:2wave:

still hung up on that wiki article? since everyone knows what death tax means it doesn't fit your idiotic definition

This **** didn't start with Obama it stated with the Korean Conflict.

I thought it was the Spanish American war myself but point taken

You march to the tune called by right wing ideologues of the Republican Party who ordered you and your ilk to start using DEATH TAX and you jumped up and followed your masters orders.

There is no tax on death.

Can you link to that order ? The one from the "master" that Republicans jumped up for ? Or is this just more bloviating from the "WTF" left ?

Absolutely.... just for you...

Estate tax in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

and to make it even easier for you

Political use of "death tax" as a synonym for "estate tax" was encouraged by Jack Faris of the National Federation of Independent Business[41] during the Speakership of Newt Gingrich. Well-known Republican pollster Frank Luntz wrote that the term "death tax" "kindled voter resentment in a way that 'inheritance tax' and 'estate tax' do not".[42]
Linguist George Lakoff asserts that the term "death tax" is a deliberate and carefully calculated neologism used as a propaganda tactic to aid in efforts to repeal estate taxes. The use of "death tax" rather than "estate tax" in the wording of questions in the 2002 National Election Survey increased support for estate tax repeal by only a few percentage points.[43]

hope that helps. :)

Then we have stuff like this which is such a blatant lie that it does not even rise to the utilitarian level of manure

http://60plus.org/aw349/

Congress has imposed a levy on everything that can conceivably be taxed: income, sales, property, gasoline, and food– the list is endless. A tax is extracted from fans who attend sports or other entertainment events, but a tax for dying? Seniors say, rather emphatically, that DYING SHOULD NOT BE A TAXABLE EVENT!

Amazing - really truly amazing. Show me what government taxes the act of death?

my family has paid millions in death taxes. I have earned a right to call that abomination for what it is and to try to get rid of it

you on the other hand admits to being a paid operative for the party that defends this wealth stealing law and its obviously you who has a desire to keep this mechanism in place so your masters can buy votes with it

Haymarket is a paid operative for the dem party. He latched on to a bogus definition that had no citation to evidence to suggest anyone who calls the death tax "death tax" was "mentally ill". He claims that I am somehow following orders bashing a tax that has cost my family-over the last 40 years, millions of dollars.

Haymarket is on record saying the wealth of the rich exists to fund whatever the masses and those who gain power by pandering to them desire

There is no right to falsehood and lies. When you follow the orders of your Republican masters, that is what you engage in.

from Turtle spreading more falsehoods

Haymarket is a paid operative for the dem party.

My paycheck comes from the State of Michigan. My job in the State Legislature is exactly the same job that is done by MORE REPUBLICANS than Democrats. Hate to burst your bubble with those meddlesome facts but thats just the way it is.

Poor Haymarket-he assumes that because someone I never heard of used a term that means everyone else who used that term had to do it on the DIRECT ORDERS of that person and then he has the nerve to call me a liar when he cannot possibly know where I first heard that term

You march to their tune.
You follow their orders.
You sing their song.
You parrot their slogans.

If it walks like a turtle, and looks like a turtle, and behaves like a turtle........

Another fail-I was using the term death tax as a freshman at yale in a debate on the issue at the Yale Political Union. "Resolved the death tax be abolished". October 1977
