House Dems to call for expiration of Bush tax rates in debt-limit deal

As you set the tone, it would seem you have stupidity down pat. ;)

I addressed Reich. You snipe.

47% of households in Amerca pay no Federal Income Tax. It is not an anomaly.

One more stupid snipe comeback like that and you go to Ignore, and deservedly so.

I guess this lame reply means you have nothing but add homs to add to the conversations eh?

So tell us Turtle , given that taxation goes back some 5,000 years to at least the Egyptians, who did your right wing ancestors demonize when the government collected taxes? What names did you call them before Karl Marx would write his book over 4,800 years later?

You labour under the massive delusion that I am against all taxes

I am merely against taxes being used to buy the votes of the parasites

Reich is so full of ****. Forget that the bottom 47% pay zero income tax. Never mentions it. Forget that we pay folks for close to 3 years to not work (get what you pay for Bobby). Forget that when marginal rates were higher, there were so many loopholes, that the net taxes paid (all aspects) was lower than it is now. Forget that with such as NAFTA etc., we can't compete, in large part because unions ****ed it all up so bad. Never mentions a word.

Bobby is all "blame the rich". Same liberal BS. Different day.

a marxist gay midget who whines about the rich is worthless. He wants to call the top one percent super rich, that alone disqualifies him from being taken seriously.

So... being a Multi-Billionaire doesn't count as super rich?

Please, pray tell. What DOES count as being super rich?

you apparently didn't read very well

the top one percent starts at about 350K a year
hardly super rich

Raise taxes on multi millionaires is not the solution to our economic woes. Could it be part of it? Sure. But raising it back to Clinton years is not going to put us back on track. Anyone who says that is taking talking points from Rachel Maddow and not actually realizing that we have 47% of people paying no taxes, and corporations paying 0 dollars in taxes, and actually getting credits for paying nothing.

the people we should not raise taxes on are those already paying more than their fair share

Exactly... people making 200k a year are paying their fair share. People making 40 million a year are not.

that's crap. even if all of their income is CG they still pay more per person than 100 million americans combined. do you think 100 million people USE LESS of the services paid for by income taxes and death taxes than one person making 40 million a year?

complete BS on your part. fair share isn't what you can afford. fair share is what you use and what you pay for

I don't care about the services. We've discussed this before turtle. The point is it must be a fair share of your income. Take 35 percent from someone making 200k a year is already overstretching it. Take 35 percent from someone making 40 million a year is absolutely nothing. It should be around 39/40. That's why it's fair to take 10 percent from someone making 20k a year, but not fair to take 10 percent from someone making 100k a year. We have exhausted this.

Your believe in FROM EACH ACCORDING TO THEIR ABILITY

I do not. In all other areas your desires don't cut it

not in what businesses charge

not in nature

not in anything but taxes

and that is why we are in the mess we are in

those who don't pay enough want those who pay too much to pay even more and because the net tax consumers often have more votes than the net tax payers the politicians pander to the former

if you knew taxes on you would increase with increased government spending what would you do the next time a politician campaigns on more spending?

Alright, if you're going to start calling me a socialist for supporting a fair progressive income tax you really need to get your head checked. Ronald Reagan supported progressive income taxes (albeit his were low), are you going to call him a socialist?

This isn't about government spending. This is about tax brackets. My economic beliefs are very moderate. I believe that tax rates as a whole should be lowered, but the system should still remain progressive.

progressive taxes are what buys politicians votes

since I am not a politician I don't need to suck up to a system designed to buy votes but which causes massive problems in the long run

No, this is about what has ****ed up this country so badly, and turned many of its citizens into worthless piles of crap who covet what others have. Progressive taxes are like a cancer which encourages parasites. We are so "Progressive" now that 47% pay no income tax.

About 200 years ago, one wiser than all of us said (paraphrase): "Once the voters realize they are able to vote themselves largesse from the Treasury, it will be the end of the Republic". Did they foresee modern liberals or what !!!

"Fair" .... my ass.

Did I say that 47% paying no income tax is right? No. I said they should. Everyone should pay income tax, whether you make 5k a year, or 500k a year, but it should be at fair levels. Every country in the world has progressive income tax rates. Are you going to tell me the Chinese, who have a 9.6 economic growth rate, are all parasites? Their highest tax rate is 40 percent I believe.

Did I speak Chinese in my post ? I am talking about what we have done to ourselves right here in the USA. And "Oh by the way", if you note the topic of the thread, the DEMOCRATS are trying to get things "more fair" and up the taxes progressively higher on the rich. A position you have endorsed.

America created too much dead weight, and now we are dying from it.

Excellent post. I agree. We need to close at least 600 of the 800+ bases overseas and trim about 500 to 600 billions dollars from the "defense" budget. It's time to cut some of that dead weight loose.

lets start with the stuff that is clearly not constitutionally mandated

Great idea. Let's start with the 800+ bases that we have on foreign soil and work our way back from there. We can toss in completely disallowing the President to unilaterally wage war without Congress declaring war except in cases where US soil is under direct threat.

Or we can get rid of the War on Drugs then
implement universal health care which would supersede the need for Medicare and Medicaid and a bevy of other programs that people depend on when they can't pay for basic medical care.

universal health care requires some of us to pay for the health care of others

that clearly is unconstitutional to those of us who understand that document

Here ya go.How about $2.8 trillion offset.Thata work.:2wave:

<A group of House Democrats is calling for any deal to raise the debt ceiling to bring about the end of the Bush tax rates for the wealthy.>

<“At this point, both government and private-sector economists agree that sharp immediate cuts in government spending risk plunging our economy into a double-dip recession that will cost further jobs and ultimately worsen our fiscal situation,” the lawmakers wrote in a letter obtained by The Hill.>

<They added that allowing the Bush tax rates for the wealthiest to expire at the end of next year would by itself “stop the growth of the deficit over the next decade.” >

I'm all for it. Enough is enough. I think Republicans should simply capitulate and let it happen. It's been a distraction for far too long. It won't make a difference, not one little iota, but it'll make a whole lot of people feel better. Republicans! Don't stand on principle! Just git 'er done!

How about the Democrats get a plan on the table that cuts at least 5 trillion in the next 10 years, as compared to Ryan's 6+ trillion.

You know, a plan !! Whoooooo Hoooooo !!!

Instead of Dems being a bunch of political ******s who always point to Defense and "the rich", cause that won't get'r done :)

The the wealthy are the ones who create the jobs in our Nation. Look at what over taxing and stupid regulations have done to jobs and businesses in California.

Liberals don't seem to care bout the damage the do as lomg as they get their way.
