Wisconsin Unions Disrupt Special Olympics Ceremony

No, this just shows how desperate you guys are to attack unions and paint them with a broad brush and as socially indefensible.

This was a disgusting disrespect to handicapped people and you defend it?

This is pretty dumb. Here... let me point out what REALLY happened and how it needs to be assessed. Perhaps this will shut down the partisan hackery I see from BOTH sides on this thread.

1) The protesters were protesting Walker, NOT the Special Olympics. Any accusation opposite of that is idiotic partisan hackery.
2) Just because they were allowed to do this, under the law, doesn't mean that this was an OK thing to do. It wasn't and WAS disrespectful to those participating. There is a time and a place for things, and this wasn't it. Any accusation opposite of that and using the 1st Amendment to defend the morality of doing this is idiotic partisan hackery.

There. That about sums it up. Let's see which people fall into one of these two categories.

I'm not American so I can freely say holding such protests at such a day was not a classy thing to do. The protests could have been held when the Governor was on his way to or from the event.

I find it strange though in the video that the zombie protestors were able to walk right up to the front and then in front of the athletes. When muslim4UK tried protesting the returning dead UK servicemen at Wooton Bassett the crowd itself blocked their entry and protest - not the police.

Anyone that would politicize this event, or any event like it, is a ****ing scumbag. Period.

Another "defender of the faith." Well done. Fred would be proud.

Heres a hint...just because you CAN do something legally doesnt mean you SHOULD.
And that has exactly what to do with what I said?

Retards thinking it is acceptable to crash the Special Olympics...too funny...
Just because you're ignorant of the fact that NOONE crashed the Special Olympics, doesn't mean that you have to write off the wall things, in response to my post, about what people can or should do. I never said anything that one could misconstrue to be about what one could or should protest.

You, and the other 'usual suspects', just saw an opportunity for a union bash and blindly jumped in. There were no Special Olympics being held on the Wisconsin capitol steps to be crashed, protested or interrupted in any way, shape or form.

annnnd.......the people who were protesting were UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN STUDENTS, not some evil, disgusting union thugs that some were referring to in this thread.

*by the way I let your 'retard' slur pass but I'm surprised that some of your right leaning buddies didn't speak up, like they did when some of my left leaning buddies have used it in the past...;)

i think we are in agreement
beginning with the politician who showed up not to participate as an athele, or to watch the athletes compete, but to make this a political appearance

I think out of respect for the Special Olympics they should not have done this. It was classless and really only displays pure rage to the point of protesting everywhere that the governor goes.

there has been absolutely NO indication of pure rage
the special olympics officials insisted that the protests were not disruptive to the event or the participants
and yet you see it as "pure rage"
hyperbole much?

You also have no respect for the special needs.

Really i dont? Sense you know me personally so very well right?
How is this disprespectufl to special needs again? Were the making fun of special needs kids? Were they calling the Governed a retard? What did they do that was just so "disrespectful"? Oh yea they dressed up like zombies stood in the front while the Governor was speaking and then left.

My Dad is handicapped... My Dad isn't offended. I am not offended, stop character attacking me. I don't stand for disrespecting and offending handicapped people because they are handicapped, and that is not what happened in is situation. The protest wasn't intended to insult handicapped people, nor is there any evidence that anybody participating in the Olympics were offended. If they were offended, that would be different.

My only issue is, who was offended.... other than people who don't like unions? Nobody has posted any official complaints from the Special Olympics and I haven't seen the participants speaking out.

LOL... then we're all scumbags. The only reason we are having this discussion is because we decided to allow the event and protest to be politicized.

No. We "are not all scumbags". The scumbags were the protestors. Even a few libs admitted it.

I honestly see it as union bashing too... I have read the phrase "union thugs" and "union thuggery" so many times in this thread. That's the new phrase. It might be added in the 2010 dictionary for as much as people use it and try to make us associate thugs and thuggery with unions.

Retards thinking it is OK to use a Special Olympics event to protest their own 'special' cause are the same kind of scumbags that go to military funerals and protest gays. Period. There has been a kneejerk defense of their actions since this thread started. First they defended unions for doing it, then when others actually bothered to READ what they were posting about they claimed it was OK because it was students not Unions. It doesnt matter WHO was doing it. There are appropriate venues for causes. Making an asshole of themselves at a Special Olympics ceremony speaks voilumes about the protesters and anyone that would support them. Clear enough for you?

No there was an event to show honor to those who participate in special olympics. It was still an event for special olympics

Another words they don't want this to undermine the Special Olympics so they ignore the scumbags

My Dad is legally handicapped.

so you would have no problem if a conservative group did this to your dad if he was being honored by democrats?

Is your Dad mentally Handicapped?

Going in front of the honored guests was rude and disrespectful. From your comments it is clear unions mean much more to you than special needs people

It was meant to demean the event honoring the special needs people. This is disgusting and you are no better then the scumbags that did this. If I was their and they did this to my autistic son I can say I would have been causing a disturbance

No because the unions have no integrity and do not respect those that are less fortunate

unforgivable and down right stupid.

Rights its like they caused this huge commotion... Not!

Where is your proof this was Union organized?
