Wisconsin Unions Disrupt Special Olympics Ceremony

the special olympics deserve not to be invaded by a bunch of boors, because they are their own occasion to mark the courage and work that those who begin with handicaps demonstrate to achieve remarkable feats.

yes, it is like protesting during church. it would be like if anti-war protestors had showed up to disrupt and yell at bush during medal-pinning ceremonies. it's taking something that's not about you or what you are yelling about and insisting that it become about you. It spits in the face of the competitors because it tells them that their achievements and struggles aren't worth even having a single day in the sun, the union protestors must have everything.

It would be like angry protesters pushing their way onto a private owned ship and tossing freshly shipped goods into the Boston harbor...

You're only damning the means of their protest, because you don't like their message.

awesome. so when people show up to disrupt the Obama's childrens' school graduation to scream about how her father is a socialist, you're going to be A-Ok with that.

that is not all there is too it.

I'll admit, I don't really know how to respond to the reaction here. It's like I posted Nancy Pelosi beating a three year old and the response was the three year old shouldn't have gotten in her way.

I might not approve of the message of their protest, but I won't disapprove of their freedom of speech...

The Westboro Church offends the hell out of people... instead of complaining about it, we counter protest and block the Westboro people from view. If enough people were offended by this protest, they should have gotten their asses out there to counter protest.

no, they were protesting walker by crashing the special olympics.

What damage to anybody, personally, did this protest cause?

No because they're insane.

not at all. soldiers funerals are perfect podiums for anti-homosexual screetching. because nothing is outside of our need to vent political anger, right?

generally we can know when the Westboro folks are coming. I would hope that if folks had known that union protestors were about to crash the special olympics they would have done something similar.

Bullshat. There is no place that is not touched by politics, there is no place where they are not appropriate.

So you are cool with Westboro Baptist Church protesting at the funerals of US soldiers?

PS: posted this before seeing cpwill had addressed it. my bad

Sure, but it's pretty distasteful and sort of defeats the entire purpose of the protest.

If I had a friend that died as a soldier you bet I'd go up and speak about the reasons that he died, politics included.

A little late to the party? Anyways, I have no problem with these people being killed so of course I'm not going to support their right to free speech.

At least Walker isn't complaining about their freedom of speech... that would really make him look like an asshat. And it might be offensive to you, but at least you heard their protest... If they protested at small ceremony or just did a sit in, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.

You talk about Walker when these asses show they have no respect for the handicapped?

Cutting funding to special education is a little more interfering than protesting the person that presided over its implementation. In light of the circumstances I think it makes perfect sense: "People protest walker at special olympics after he cuts special education funding"

So you condone disrespecting Special Olympics? That makes you as disgusting as these Union Idiots

Wow, talk about putting words in one's mouth. Have you beaten your wife recently, ptif?

No it is about the Special Needs people and how they were showed no respect

It took away the respect and praise the Special Needs people were supposed to get.

Instead they could not even see the Governor who was honoring them.

Shows what scumbags unions are

Do you have a special needs family member? I would say not.

My wife and I take care of our 37 year old severe Autistic and Epileptic son

The protest was inappropriate. I can't stand Gov. Walker and I hope he is recalled. He has treated the hardworking people of his state terribly but this was not the time or place for a protest. The people in back with signs weren't so bad, but the people in front should have picked another event.

How'd he treat them terribly? By breaking the back of union thugs raping them for tax dollars? I fail to see the problem here.

Retards thinking it is acceptable to crash the Special Olympics...too funny...

The "me first" liberal union punks showed once again the pathetic hypocrisy that is American liberalism and the Democrat Party.

It is no different than Westboro disrupting a military funeral in pursuit of advertising their own absurd views.

Except we all can criticize that absurdity.

But this kind of pathetic union thuggery ? Nope, its all OK with the me-me-me libs.

What a friggin joke. Those original patriots who participated in the Boston Tea Party each crap bigger than these scumbag union maggots who felt it was OK to disrupt the special day for a bunch of handicapted kids.

For that matter, I crap bigger than those mooching scumbags.

No. We're damning the means because they interrupted a day set aside for those with special needs. I have no problem with the protestors expressing their message, but ther'es a time and a place for everything, and that wasn't it.

The "zombie" protesters were teen students, as anyone who viewed the tape could see, not union members, the half-dozen Special Olympics athletes were not disrupted according to their organiser, and what do you call people who describe those who protested in front of the mentally handicapped in pejorative terms related to mental handicap? The dubious origins of the partisan "news" outfit funded by tea party financiers, the Koch brothers are all too evident. The dog-whistle sounded, and the yapping commenced.

The union paid for the shirts and makup the protestors were wearing.
Wisconsin Protesters Target Special Olympics Ceremony - FoxNews.com
Earlier in the day, a statewide student organization held what it calls an educational event on the opposite side of the Capitol on a new voter ID law that it says will make it harder for students to vote. The United Council of UW Students provided zombie makeup and T-shirts that read, "Students are as good as dead."
But the group disavowed any connection to the protest at the Special Olympics.

"We in no way condone that," spokesman Matt Guidry told FoxNews.com."The event is all about athletes. It shouldn't be politicized.'

Interesting - measuring your value as a person my measuring your crap. Is that some sort of right wing rubric?

On the plus side, the union defenders have now successfully joined the ranks of Fred Phelps followers...so...big ups! :applaud

You struggle with a very simple analogy. Try again :)
