Wisconsin Unions Disrupt Special Olympics Ceremony

no, they were protesting walker by crashing the special olympics.

having the "Right" does not make it "right". Westboro Baptist has the "Right" to do as they do.

the Special Olympics deserves not to be crashed by a bunch of pissed off union protestors.

Wait so what did they do that was so wrong? What did they do exactly which was sooo offensive and just disturbing? They STOOD THERE DRESSED UP AS ZOMBIES AND DID NOT SPEAK AND RAISE A FIST OR TWO IN THE AIR AND LEFT! They did not "crash it" they did not "screw them" they pretty much did nothing. Stood there and left. Big difference between Westboros "God Hates America" and "God Hates etc, etc" than a Union Protest at a Special Olympic event. Big difference.

there is a difference of an order of magnitude, certainly - that's what I said. but the general thrust - taking an event meant to honor others and trying to make it about your anger - remains the same.

Well they did stand directly in front of those listening to Governor Walker's speech. If you are watching a game and I stand directly in front of you, chances are you won't be too pleased about it. Not comparing it to Westboro, but still...

That's not what you wrote in the OP, you said they were protesting the special olympics, did you forget?

/fail

they were protesting the awful man at the podium.

It still does not change the fact they are douche bags for protesting at the Special Olympics. The Special Olympics does not have **** to with them.

Had this been a Democratic governor, the same people in this thread saying this is no big deal and being completely accepting of this would be pitching a ****ing fit, and they know it.

They were not protesting the "special needs children" they were protesting Governor Walker.......

They blocked the view of the special needs people showing they respect no one not even the handicapped

Bullshat. There is no place that is not touched by politics, there is no place where they are not appropriate.

Well, it's not like the Special Olympians were upset about the protest, is it? Some people dressed as zombies showed up. So what? If they showed up with signs saying that the kids needed to be put down, then that is a good reason to get upset. But they didn't do that, did they? They showed up and protested Walker's policies.

Also, I find it humorous that Walker would even have the balls to show up to an event like this, after gutting special education, and giving the money to the Koch Brothers. The irony here is so thick you can cut it with a knife. His showing up to the Special Olympics is orders of magnitude more repugnant than the protesters who showed up.

To the special kids - Pay no attention to the funny guys dressed in zombie suits, but watch out for that governor who is holding the knife that he is stabbing you in the back with.

Do you have credible proof that money removed from special education was directly given to the Koch brothers? Please... link?

so you would support the westboro baptists as being "in the right", not just "Having the Right"?

of course not. this is just the usual mindless jabber - evil republicans taking from [insert favored/blessed/protected/vulnerable group here] and giving the ill-gotten gains to [the rich / the military industrial complex / jews / oil companies / evil bankers / evil wealthy jewish veteran bankers who invest in oil].

because, you know, not giving someone money is the same as taking it away from them..... just like not taking from someone is the same as giving to them..... war is peace, oppression is freedom, some animals are more equal than others, and big brother is watching.

The protest was inappropriate. I can't stand Gov. Walker and I hope he is recalled. He has treated the hardworking people of his state terribly but this was not the time or place for a protest. The people in back with signs weren't so bad, but the people in front should have picked another event.

At the SPECIAL FRIGGIN OLYMPICS

At least Walker isn't complaining about their freedom of speech... that would really make him look like an asshat. And it might be offensive to you, but at least you heard their protest... If they protested at small ceremony or just did a sit in, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.

Anybody interfering in the special needs having their special day is way past insane.

Cutting funding to special education is a little more interfering than protesting the person that presided over its implementation. In light of the circumstances I think it makes perfect sense: "People protest walker at special olympics after he cuts special education funding"

it doesn't matter WHO they were protesting, they should have let the special olympics have their day. want to protest walker? hang around outside the governors mansion or show up whenever he gives a political speech or goes campaigning for reelection. there is no need to force special needs people to suffer more so that you can vent and blow your suck.

I don't like Obama's policies, but you won't find me invading his church on Easter, or his daughters graduation ceremonies. because that (just like this) would be classless, crude, and indicative of narcissism.

but i'll admit, i do find it interesting how, when given the choice between defending those with special needs or defending public unions, ya'll instantly and without hesitation leapt to the defense of public unions. I'm surprised - I expected the response to be blustering about how they don't speak for all unions, and all unions can't be held to account for the boorish actions of a few etc..... but no. apparently ya'll really are without shame. :(

I like to see the public this amped up to fight for their beliefs and standup.... I don't care which side they are on. People should be active... If we were more active and had the fight in us all the time, our country probably would be so ****ed up right now.

Soooo. Really were not disturbing anyone. Whats your whole point. First off in your post totally twisted the even you said they were "protesting a bunch of special needs children, and trying to take away their day" they were actually protesting the Governor, and yes it was at a Special Olympics thingy, big woopdy dooo.... Nothing like dressing up like zombies and standing in the front, how disrespectful..... Lame.

Well, you could do the hack thing and blame the whole thing on Walker... Almost everywhere he goes, a protest is likely to follow... lol. But in his defense, if he asked for the protesters to "zip it" out of "respect for the handicapped" he'd look like a douche and total clown.
