British intelligence agency MI6 hacked an Al-Qaeda online magazine, replacing bomb-making instructions with a recipe for cupcakes, The Telegraph reports.

The joint action by MI6 and the UK’s Government Communications Headquarters had agents insert into the magazine an encrypted version of “The Best Cupcakes in America,” published by the Ellen DeGeneres talk show.

hmmm... very interesting.

When they use those cupcakes to conquer the American culinary industry, we'll know that we have the British to blame.

I've eaten a few British cup cakes that were damn near lethal.

Next time they should provide a recipe for how Muslim women can establish their rights in ME countries; stuff like driving, voting. And/Or they could post some pork based recipes and what alcoholic beverages go best with said dishes.

I'm just saying, if they win the Pillsbury Bake Off next year to raise funds for terror...

All jokes aside this was brilliant and funny as hell, and shows what can be done with a clear mind and some thought.

I was truly laughing out loud when I first read about this.

It makes ALQaedalook like the fooish people they are. Nuff said

well, what it shows are some fascinating doctrinal development.

this is the big debate in the US establishment right now - who "owns" "covert" or other "NetOps" CIA? DOD? both have claim and have been sort of tugging at it. DOD actually considered targeting this same magazine, but CIA shut them down in a turf battle.

See, what they did is actually better than that. It's funnier, because instead of directly offending their religious sensibilities-- and thus giving offense to law-abiding and peace-loving Muslims accidentally-- they just openly made Al Qaeda look ridiculous. They didn't just expose their weak security, they used that weak security to humiliate them, which is something that everyone can get behind.

Remember, when you're laughing at someone, it's always better when more people are laughing with you.
