Iraqis wary of decision on U.S. troops

Right, a Task Force Report commissioned by the VP, not an op/ed piece as you stated claimed earlier.

Your quotes made it look like an op-ed, and I cannot access many links from this computer. So apologies on that. But the findings of a task force, without confirming evidence at the time of occupation or at the onset of occupation doesn't really prove the point..

Yes, the quotes are shocking aren't they?

I don't know exactly what you are trying to say there, but we in fact carried out the recommendations of Cheney's Report, we used a military method to assure that Iraq can't withhold access to their property from Western oil anymore.

No way. I think this is our way out of debt. Run around giving people democracy and freedom, then charging them for it. Come on....freedom isn't free.

That could be the next cottage industry: "Democracy - once town at a time" Sub-title: "Reasonable rates, fully insured, experienced merc's only"

I suppose it is out of fashion to let countries decide for themselves how they wish to be governed in the age of US Imperialism?

Are you tired of living under the thumb of an oppressive government? Have the lack of labor laws got you down? Do you dream of a life where you can make decisions for yourself without the threat of government execution? Well if so, then come on down to America's International House of Freedom and Democracy. Yes, you too can be living the life of freedom and liberty just as you've always wanted. And for a limited time, buy one Freedom and Democracy value plan, and we'll throw in a Bill of Rights: no charge! These deals are too crazy to last long, act now before it's too late!

Naw man, you have to embrace the future. Imagine it, warehouses stocked with freedom and democracy just waiting to be shipped off to an oppressed people!

We don't get any signigicant amount of oil from Iraq...that goes to China and India. Are we getting money from the sale of oil? Perhaps as a form of payback for upgrading and repairing their oil infrastructure on our dime?

You may just have to go back and reread their recommendations. They have noting to do with the US getting oil from Iraq, or money from the sale of Iraqi oil. They have to do with ending Nationalized oil in Iraq that prevented foreign investment in Iraqi oil. Mission Accomplished as the banner said. Iraq is once again open to big oil for the first time in over 3 and a half decades, thanks to our invasion and help setting up a new corrupt, but US friendly, Regime that we remain to protect from the Iraqis.

I'm failing to see a downside, or a malicious intent...and a corrupt regime, for that matter.

Hate to throw a fly in the ointment, but shouldn't we perfect our own freedom and democracy before we start exporting it by force of death to others? :sun

It seems only those that have a problem with killing people to militarily control another's use of their own property have a problem with it. Go figure! :sun

Why do you hate America?

Look, we're single handedly creating the future of the United States, while providing a clear and understandable job creator that could very well pull this entire country and possibly the world, out of this economic funk. You keep arguing for self-rights, self-governance, and individual rights.... what are you, a closet conservative?

LOL! Oh you're serious aren't you? I sort of figured that might be the case when you thanked Ikari for the facetious post. :sun

No of course I'm not serious... we're just funnin....

at this point i don't give a goddamn what they want. if they are not ready now, they never will be.

If we leave too soon, you had better be goddamned ready to send troops back and start over from scratch in a few years.

Or we could just let them decide for themselves how they wish to govern themselves. :sun
