Arizona SWAT Team Defends Shooting Iraq Vet 60 Times

To say that this issue isn't at least questionable is ridiculous. Being shot 60 times is overkill. It's horrible that this guy basically did nothing (or at least nothing to deserve being shot 60 times) and he's in his own home and now he is dead. And why? Because of a simple misunderstanding.

I have to say that I also get a kick out of the fact that whenever there is a cop-related story where people dare to criticize cops in the situation, Caine quickly jumps to their defense regardless of what the situation is. Cops are public servants and therefore their performance is under scrutiny. I realize that sucks, but they also chose that profession. It's ridiculous that people who have a right to criticize the performance of cops are deemed as cop haters simply because they are expressing their opinion. BTW, Caine, I love your John Casey avatar.

personally, I just hate cops

I'm not a fan of certain cops. The profession, in and of itself, kind of lends itself to a power trip..but the same could be said for many professions. Not all cops are assholes. It's sadly the ones who are who make a bad name for the rest of them.

When you believe your death to be imminent are you going to count the amount of rounds you shoot at someone? Now take an individual and multiply it by 5 or 6 individuals all believeing they are about to be killed by a guy who is pointing an assault rifle at them and is heard saying, "I got something for you", AFTER they blared a siren, knocked, announced, and entered. If you point a gun at six cops... your going to get six times the amount of normal bullets shot at you in a short period of time.

Its all based upon the source of the criticism. Criticizing the number of bullets shot when you have MANY officers is absolutely retarded. Every single one of those officers, when threatned with the use of a gun is going to react the same way they would with 5 of their friends present than they would if they were alone. When your death is imminent, you are not concerned with reducing the amount of shots you fire because there are others around. You are concerned with living. The cries that the safety was still on are ridiculous..... any gun pointed at an officer is a threat, on an AR15 its not like an officer is going to be looking to see the tiny safety device from many feet away and check to see if it is on or off before trying to prevent his imminent death.

You can criticise for stupid reasons all you want, the fact of the matter remains that those officers each took the steps they felt, individually, that they needed to do to protect their own lives. And that is the #1 most important thing to do in law enforcement.
