Casey Anthony Trial's Surprise

"That is Casey's only way out of this." How about we make sure justice is served? If you're rooting for her, you're in a distinct minority. All the red herrings in the world that are being thrown out by the defense team aren't going to save this little psychopath. If she isn't convicted, it will be a sad day...

Maggie, Maggie, Maggie, Maggie... Does my post really look like I'm rooting for her?

Two very major mistakes on behalf of the defense yesterday and today. Self-sabotage for the sake of a mistrial, perhaps?

If she did kill Caylee, she's one clever bitch. I'm waiting for more conclusive evidence before I make my final decision about it. I do tend to lean toward guilty just for the record.

I do believe there was sex abuse by the bro. Unsure of dad. Dad was getting nooky from stranger pretending he was working. But if casey didnt like it she would have got out of there with the female daughter. Caylee didnt have boobs yet so there is no way she can claim daddy and bro were doing Caylee

So what if she didn't have "boobs." Most child predators like those that look younger. So, not saying it happened, but if it did, the fact that she hadn't blossomed yet could have been a determing factor.

Sorry if this has been done already but why do people care so much about this case? I live in Orlando, Florida. I know people that want to go down to the courthouse and wait in line to be in there. I know people that are listening all day at work. I just do not understand this fascination! I watched a few minutes while I was cleaning around the house (Couldn't find the darn remote) and it is just so boring! We will never know if she did it or not. She is most likely going to be convicted. Why watch? Why waste your time listening to people's lives being ruined? I just do not understand!

Duct tape can kill, regarding an earlier comment.

If she can convince the jury of brutal abuse, how far away is convincing them the father did it? She can claim to have lied both times, out of fear of him.

Spitz testified that he was certain that the duct tape was applied to Caylee, after Caylee was already dead. If so, the Duct Tape could not have killed Caylee.

Casey may have been trying to escape her responsibility for the death of Caylee, who may have died accidentally, but maybe partly as a result of Casey not paying proper attention and supervision. Therfore, Casey may have tried to make it look like Caylee was murdered, so as to blame someone else for Caylee's death. Casey's mother was severly critical of Casey's mothering responisbilities, and Casey may have been trying to avoid a lifetime of hearing about Caylee's accidental death being Casey's fault.

Probably a sound theory.

That's a good theory, but a normal mother would mourn her child. Casey appears to be void of those types of emotions. Of course, this is just conjecture as well, but that's why I'm holding out for more evidence.

It makes no sense to apply the duct tape after Caylee died. Something is truly amiss with this case. Either Casey Anthony is extremely clever or the prosecutors are really dumb.

Did you check out the link to the evidence files I posted a few pages back? There's a lot of stuff in there that doesn't quite jive. The interviews (transcripts so far, haven't watched the videos) are especially interesting. The interview with Dominic Casey made me a little curious, too.

I really, really hope that her ratings plummet after this is all over.

There's still a lot I haven't read yet, but from what I've seen so far-it's just weird. I don't know what else to say. :(

The Dominic Casey interview is interesting. The detectives are very aggressive with him and he's very, very defensive. Apparently, he found Caylee's body based on a tip from a psychic in Virginia (I'm pretty sure it was Virginia, anyway).

Casey Anthony's mom, Cindy, was called to the stand by the defense. She testified that she was the one who seached for chloroform and other chemicals using the family computer.

Interesting testimony. I hadn't been following the case, but apparently this was somewhat devastating to the prosecution. Some have said that you don't search for chlorophyll and reach chloroform. So I tried the search with "chlorofill" (which is a common incorrect spelling) and I got the "Did you mean chloroform" message from Google. So it is entirely possible that she searched for chlorophyll and got to chloroform. Further, I don't think it is unreasonable for someone to revisit a search engine and repeat a search 84 times if they are seriously searching for a specific piece of information on the internet.

Not that I think the only possible way the girl was killed is with chloroform. I'm actually not sure how or why this is even relevant.

I think the defense is trying to either (1) convince the jury that there was no premeditation (possibly removes a 1st degree murder conviction) or (2) instill enough doubt that the jury can't unanimously convict, leading to a mistrial.

I agree, the defense knows theres a very weak juror who has stated before the trial to the judge she does not like to judge people....

Prosecution tried to say Cindy did not disclose Chlorform search in previous deposition, and that Cindy was at work on the days, at the times, the searches were made on the family computer. Cindy said she had flex time at work, and comes home, at irregular times.

Dominic Casey came close to finding Caylee in November, 08.

Honestly, it's starting to look like the prosecution has built a relatively weak case, built largely on suggestion and implication rather than fact. I'm betting they came into this assuming no sane jury would acquit her.

 A psychic?? If they used a psychic to find her body, I wonder if the psychic has an opinion on who killed Caylee. Maybe she can help them find missing evidence or something. Anything at this point would be helpful.

She's lying.

The Defense seems to be saying that Caylee's body was placed at the scene where it was found, two weeks before it was found. If Caylee drowned in the pool, and the Cadaver dogs found spots where Caylee had lain on the grass near the pool, then why not admit Casey put the body in the woods, and tried to make it look like an abduction/murder with the duct tape?

Casey is probably so accustomed to giving people multiple stories, that she probably expects her attorneys to argue in the alternative.

"First, we claim that Casey does not know anything about the death of Caylee, and someone else abducted her, and placed duct tape on her face, and dumped her in the woods. We therefore ask aquittal on all counts.

If, However, you believe that Casey drove the deceased body of Caylee around in her trunk, and then put duct tape on Caylee's mouth, and put Caylee in the woods, we ask for aquittal of murder, because the state has not proven murder, or pre-meditated murder. "

Asking a jury to believe two conflicting stories, is a challenge for most attorneys. Arguing effectively in the alternative, usually needs less directly conflicting interpretations of the facts.

Like I've already said, I would be surprised if this doesn't end in a mistrial.

The submitted another request for mistrial today...the judge is reserving judgment for the time being. This is a change from previous requests when the Judge immediately denied the motions.
