Homicides drop sharply in Ciudad Juarez

Mexico City (CNN) -- Homicides in Ciudad Juarez have dropped about 60 percent over the past year, Mexican President Felipe Calderon said Friday during a visit to that border city.

Pop quiz: What's the bloodiest ongoing conflict in the world? If you guessed Afghanistan or Libya, you're wrong. It's Mexico's ongoing drug war. But it looks like the conflict may be winding down. I wouldn't suggest vacationing in Juarez anytime soon, but it looks like the city may soon go from being a war zone to merely a dangerous city.

    I can't. This is important.

There is nobody left to decapitate. Everyone is dead or in the promiseland El Norte.

I don't like being this close to parts of the greater L.A. area.

I went to a 7-11 type store in Orange a while back and no one in the store spoke English worth a damn, and it's getting worse.

Look at all the crime being exported here to places like Phoenix the kidnapping capital of the world outside of Mexico.

I wouldn't go getting all excited over a dip in the numbers, the cartels are far from finished.
