Oh my god! If Tennessee passes this bill I will cease to exist! I only exist because people acknowledge and talk about my existence.

You are a libertarian... how can you support said bill?

You know what I have to say to the bill

Re: Tenn. Senate OKs ban on teaching of homosexuality

I hope by "teaching homosexuality" they mean "teaching someone how to be fabulous."
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

You can't even acknowledge its existence in the school through this law. This also bans Straight and Gay Alliance clubs.

Watch the video though, its a great rebuttal.

    *putting my serious hat on*

I think it can be debated whether or not homosexuality, homosexual behavior, and the origins of sexual orientation need to be taught in school. However, why completely ban it?

They don't teach about homosexuality in Tennessee schools right now. If anything, I could see more teachers who are advocating against homosexuality being dismissed as a result of this bill than teachers who are taking an accepting stance towards it. And the people who are most likely to talk about sexual related issues with children, social workers and counselors, are not affected by the bill. Heck, Tennessee couldn't make a bill to affect them since what occurs in a counseling session is confidential between the student and the therapist. Most of the time, if a student wanted to talk about a sexuality related issue, the teacher would simply refer them to the school social worker or counselor who would then provide them with whatever information they were seeking.

Or to a social worker to investigate abuse.
