I am in kinda an odd place with this. I think that groups should be able to force under FoI to get these documents within a reasonable time frame, but I also think it is stupid to push the issue and release them to the public as it could very well have negative effects.

It's incorrect to think only conservatives want the photos released. There's bi-partisan agreement there. On the flip side, there are conservatives and liberals who think they shouldn't be released (although likely for different reasons). Personally, I don't care either way. I have no interest in seeing them and certainly don't need to see them to believe he's dead, but I can understand why others want to.

I agree, but personally I fail to see how this group is being "irreparably harmed."
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

I tend to agree. However this administration has failed to comply with the Freedom of Information Act before. That's what should be the story.

Yeah, I do too. It's ridiculous that failing to release the photos have spawned the "deather" movement.

Deathers would not be stopped by a fewphotos. They would hardly be a roadblock. Photos are about as useful against conspiracy theories as a longform birth certificate.

So has pretty much every Presidential Administration since FOIA came into existence.

How can something be both "conservative" and "nonpartisan"?
