Yes. I'm all for flag-burning if people really want to do that, but at least buy your own flag.

I'd like to point out that for a Muslim, attacking or harming the Qu'ran is a far larger offense than attacking a Muslim. It does nothing but religiously justify their calls for jihad against the perpetrater (pretty much any white Christian, in that case).

I'm not saying I like the idea of burning the flag, but based on the permissions granted to douche bag #2, I would have to assume that douche bag #1s arrest was tied to other actions than just the fact that he was burning the flag.

He burned a flag from a war memorial, destruction of public property.

goes to show that college kids are on average only slightly more intelligent than the average human being.
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

Who cares if he was burning the flag? I don't understand how it can bother people so much to have an opposing view express their beliefs.

The kid has the right to burn a flag (or give an anti-American speech or whatever the case may be). Other kids have the right to chase him around shouting "USA USA!" All's fair.

The guy's attending University and thus should be articulate enough to express his beliefs without burning a flag. This is done only to draw attention to himself, and in that regard he was successful.

What do you suppose his 'opposing view' was?

You just 'expressed your belief'. Good for you. See? No riots...no trash throwing...no beatdowns. Burning a flag (to many) goes a little beyond freedom of speech. Now...do you have the right to do it? Sure. ya just might want to be careful where you do it and who you are surrounded by. Other folks might want to "express themselves" in return.
