Please show me where I said that burning the flag was worse.

I have enjoyed reading the back and forth between ya'll over the symbolic impact of burning the Koran Vs. the US Flag.

I would like to add the biggest difference between the two. In the Islamic Culture, the Freedom of the Individual is subservient to Allah, in America, the freedom of the Individual is paramount. What I'm trying to say is, the very idea of "Freedom of Speech" doesn't exist. So the reaction is not because the Koran "Means more" it is because the very concept of Freedom (in this case speech) is alien.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

Tossing bottles was uncalled for, but standing up and being heard was aces. Go LSU!
A stunning victory for angry mobs everywhere! Next time he will think twice before he stands by what he believes in!

Hey, don't be hating on Facebook now. I read an article by some historian a few weeks back where he says that Facebook is going to feature prominently in the history books about the early 21st century. Either way, it's better than throwing trash.

I hate on Web 2.0. I don't feel sorry about doing so. In this instance, it's organizing for the lamest of reasons. Some dork hippy thinks he wants to make some sort of brilliant statement (of course it's not) by burning the flag. Then a bunch of other people think he's being a bit of a jerk, so they organize against him.

I just can't ever imagine myself caring that much. Demonstrations on college campuses are lame to begin with. It's like watching children play with action figures, hoping that one day they can be G.I. Joe or Cobra Commander.

I completely agree with this part.

However. Some of us can actually get to the level of GI Joe, so don't be dissin mah toyz.
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

But would it be worse to burn GI Joes, which represent our military, which represent our country, or to burn ninja turtles, which represent the horrible affects of polution?
