Newt Gingrich to launch presidential bid Wednesday

I'm with Zyph on this one. Clinton's a great speaker and exudes charisma.

Pretty much. Clinton is one of those silver tounged people that could sell ice to an Eskimo. When I was 5 or 6 I saw him speak and even then I found him to be charasmatic, even if I couldn't understand anything he was saying.

lol, my "gamer side" doesn't go much futher than Xbox Kinect games, Wii Sports, and Mario. =oP.

I guess I have a "type"...I want 'em tall, stocky, with warm eyes and a soft smile. I hate a cocky presentation. I'll become the worst version of myself when I'm around a cocky guy.

I'd reply that cocky/arrogant isn't the same as confident. Barack Obama was confident (as a candidate, not sure about him as a President). Bill Clinton is confident. LeBron James is arrogant.

You have a point, but it's all about perception, right? I agree on LeBron. I want to punch him in the stomach (since I couldn't reach his face).

My standing reach is a bit more than 6'8" I think I could do it for you.

I think I can reach up to like, 6'6" or so, but that's without any force. With force I'm probably only up to about 5'11" or so, max. Not to mention, I have a weak, girly upper body. So he'd be like, "uhm, was that a misquito?"

...so you're welcome to punch him for me.

As a Washington Wizards fan, I'd like to remind all that WE pioneered LeBron haterdom first. I would like nothing more than to do that for you :D

I'm aware of his infidelity issues and multiple marriages...but what baggage does he have that would reflect on his ability to run the country?

That alone is going to cause him enough....its not just the infidelity...its the divorcing his wife while she was on her hospital bed (lack of heart and compassion), and then cheating on the woman he was cheating on his spouse with....and all the while being the hypocrite and chastising Clinton for doing less than what he was doing. There is no way that Gingrich can sweep all that under the rug.

You Wizards may have started the hating but us Laker fans perfected it.

Also if you do get around to sucker punching Lebron you should do it while wearing a championship ring, it's the cloest he'll ever get to one.

I think they both want the main seat though.

Here is, in my estimation, a pretty comprehensive blog post detailing the possibilities.

Newt Gingrich: Serious candidate or sideshow? - The Fix - The Washington Post

Thanks for the article BD, but I don't think that the WaPo has an objective eye on this campaign. And to take their word for anything I think would be a mistake.

If Cain wins the GOP nod, then the race card is out of it, other than the racist demo's that will pillore him with shouts of 'oreo', and 'uncle tom' at every chance.

There is no chance in hell that Cain gets the nod....Zero. I would be surprized if he even finishes #5.

Seriously? Newt is a hypocrite lizard and doesn't stand a rat's ass chance. He'll be out before New Hampshire.

Clearing the way for Herman Cain to be President in January of 2013. I'm cool with that. I would love to see an ABC in the White House and watch all the Libbos's heads explode, because they couldn't cry, "racist", at every opportunity.

The GOP is way too racist to ever nominate a black man (The closest chance would have been Powell). There is zero chance Cain will even finish in the top 5. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I'm not sold on anybody yet...but one thing I will say...Obama seems to be getting more snippy, more short, a little more caustic when he's speaking with reporters/donors/during speeches. It seems (to me, anyway) that maybe he's getting a little stressed, tired of the job/responsibility.

He'll need to go back to his motivational-speaker quality if he wants to win. When he's "frank" he almost comes off like a d*ck. I don't think that will serve him well during the campaign cycle.

I think he knows he's **** out of luck, so there's no need in putting on the show, anymore.

Okay, I'm doing some reading myself, but I'd appreciate it if those of you who have specific reasons for thinking he's unacceptable, would be willing to share them.

He's unacceptable to those folks, because he's a Conservative. He's a smart Conservative and they're skeered ****less of him, the same way they're afraid of Palin.

He's smart, there's no doubt about it. I just don't like him because he's an ass.

I'm still digging. ;)

Newt Gingrich News - The New York Times

In running as a candidate, he will have to grapple with aspects of his life and career that could give pause to elements of the Republican primary electorate, including a lack of a well-established association with religious conservatives and attendant questions about his two divorces.

But as he travels the country, he strikes two related notes: that the nation faces not just a fiscal crisis but also a loss of its moral foundation, and that his conversion to Catholicism two years ago is part of an evolution that has given him a deeper appreciation for the role of faith in public life.

No rhetoric. I want facts.

hillary was not in the hospital fighting cancer. or do you mean edwards? he's scum of the first order.

How was Hillary's health when Slick Willy raped Paula Jones? At least Newt didn't rape anyone.

Exactly, anybody who dislikes Palin is obviously just threatened by her towering intellect. Not even our North Korean allies hanging out in nearby Russia can refudiate that, I read it in that one newspaper whose name I can't remember.

LOL I don't hate Palin, but I admit I laughed on this one.

At least she doesn't think there are 57 states in the union.

My dad's a staunch conservative that couldn't stand Bill Clinton. However, a few years back he was doing private security at an event that ended up having Clinton speak. He got to be near him for about 30 minutes and shake his hand and get introduced. He said he'd never met someone who exuded more pure and unfiltered charisma than Clinton did, even out of the Presidency and that much older.

Some people just ooze Charisma in person, and for whatever reason Slick Willy is one of the tops when it comes to that.

Ooze is the correct word. Oozing got him into trouble. Lewinski's dress caught a load of his oozing charisma. Hopefully there wasn't any on his hand when your Pops shook his hand. :)
