Newt Gingrich to launch presidential bid Wednesday

Under normal circumstances, Newt wouldn't garner anywhere near the amount of independant votes as he otherwise would in this economy. I agree with those that say he has too much baggage. He really does, and the left wing media is just frothing at the mouth at the chance to vet this man. He can't win under those circumstances, however, we have a terrible economy, and even though I'm not personally convinced anyone is going to fix it the way it needs to be done, Newt would be a far sight better than Obama in that regard.. He'd get my vote on the economy, and on foreign policy. He would fail on immigration, and social politics against Obama. It would be close, perhaps a lot closer than it really should be, IMO.

I think the GOP can do better than Newt as their Presidential candidate!

So, now it's Gingrich. I keep picturing a clown car, and most of them have already exited. Just when we think there couldn't possibly be one more in the car, Newt pops out. I wonder if there are more?

What is the difference between Newt and a newt?

Answer: The one is a slimy, cold blooded creature. The other is a species of amphibian.

I am tired of people talking about the rich as if they were anti- American or the enemy. These people worked their behinds to go to school and become somebody. Lazy people want something for nothing by siting on their hands and expect the government to support them for life if possible.

Lazy people should get off their behinds and make something of themselves that way they don't have to depend on nobody but that's why we have democrat politicians so they can support them.

Yes, the meme that sprang from this was that Gingrich cheated on his wives because of his patriotism. Or, as Stephen Colbert put it last night, Gingrich “really just wanted to screw America.”

Gingrich’s past marital infidelities are certain to be raised by his political opponents in the coming year and a half, and so its probably somewhat politically expedient for Gingrich to get ahead of this meme. Best to deal with jokes and snipes of this sort in Spring of 2011 than in Fall of 2012. However, if the “Gingrich wants to screw America” joke takes flight and has some persistent media play, well, that could pose a more significant problem for the GOP candidate."

Are the Left, supporters of a candidate called Barack Hussein Obama, actually trying to make an opposing candidates name, Newt Gingrich, an issue??

This from the party who called it racist to even use their candidates middle name??

I suppose we know what the political strategy of the Democrats is now. Overlook the issues and concentrate on the trivial. This adolescent approach to serious issues is why America is largely on the ropes.

I don't agree 100% with that. From pure ideas perspective...yes; from a gift-of-gab perspective......maybe, but Obama is a good speaker. He like Clinton, maybe even better. Both very smart, but on the wrong side of the issues, relying too much on bull****. Successful nonetheless. Obama is already moved a bit right with the assassination of bin Laden and maintaining Bush policies. He's got a year to completely cover up his socialist image and fool plenty of people.

This is not an attack on the middle class, it is perhaps an attack on the class of people who are LAZY and don't want to work and want something for nothing. You are the one who thinks that the middle class is lazy. The middle class is a WORKING class, learn to know the difference.

Obama should get off his ass and start cutting off all the free programs that cost ALL of US a lot of money and he should quit helping the rich that got in financial trouble. Obama should abandon his policies that have cost jobs to the MIDDLE CLASS who are the working people.

Obama is bankrupting this country, not the rich. Helloooooo!.

I hope those on welfare (regardless of race) will start to realize that hand-outs aren't helping in the long term. Good on you for being successful via hard work and determination. I'm sick of those who start off low staying there and complaining without making an effort (again, regardless of race).

One of my first jobs was working at a welfare office and there were files going back a couple of generations and, as far as I saw, all of them were white. At this time I don't see any Asians in welfare line-ups.

I think the problem is familial and cultural, not racial. There is no one race better than another.

A Cain ticket would be interesting, but it could very well be tanked depending on who is running with him.

The one thing I do like about Cain is his views that welfare creates a dependency in its current form. Welfare has long needed reform and I would be ok with that part. Welfare should be a tool to help people when they come on hard times to get back on their feet and find jobs and not be used the way it is now.

As for the racist thing, while I don't believe most conservatives are racists, yes they are out there. I don't think racism follows any particular party lines, but it definitely exists and would come into play a little bit.
 
I've listen to Cain, he's no *****. He speaks up and says what he thinks.

Somebody else has probably already said this, but, yes, Newt's infidelity was over a decade ago. And his other infidelity was over a decade ago, too. Not earth shattering, but they both happened. And you know the other party will bring these adulteries up ad nauseum if this guy becomes any kind of threat. Course his opposition from his own party will do the same in the primaries.
