Under normal circumstances, Newt wouldn't garner anywhere near the amount of independant votes as he otherwise would in this economy. I agree with those that say he has too much baggage. He really does, and the left wing media is just frothing at the mouth at the chance to vet this man. He can't win under those circumstances, however, we have a terrible economy, and even though I'm not personally convinced anyone is going to fix it the way it needs to be done, Newt would be a far sight better than Obama in that regard.. He'd get my vote on the economy, and on foreign policy. He would fail on immigration, and social politics against Obama. It would be close, perhaps a lot closer than it really should be, IMO.
I think the GOP can do better than Newt as their Presidential candidate!
