There would be no controversy if he just released the damn photos from day one. Now there is a photo controversy, a screw-up in the details, and then a phony trip to the 9/11 site, igniting memories that he couldn't even decide on the mosque issue. But perhaps his biggest blunder regarding Pakistan was getting Abbottabad confused with Costelloabad.

Wait, let's get this right :

I put 8 sources, MOST of them MSM sources (and Bennazir Bhutto speaking) about how OBL has been dead probably since 2002.

That's what's been REPORTED ON!!!! That's NOT my OPINION it's what has been REPORTED!!!!!

NOT MY WORDS!!!!!

But, let's go over it for your sake :
- President : Gets to cash in on resurrecting a dead guy and then "oh we threw him in the oceans but trust us we got his DNA as compared to the DNA we collected from a cave he was once in"???
- Presidential staff : Either Obama to them or them to Obama decided to bring him out for political reasons
- Seals team : Who will never speak about what happened (OR they are already on their "final missions")
- DNA evidence : Compared to what? You can't look at a DNA strand and say "ok, this is John Paulson Smith" You need to make a comparison, where did they get the sample to be compared?

How is it "far reaching"???

From this angle, this is just Obama and his staff setting up a political stunt as a distraction from other issues. Not really anyone else needed in that everyone else from there would just receive and enforce orders.

Edit : I spoke out against Bush for YEARS as well, don't worry... I'm a political atheist. They are BOTH corrupt beyond repair.

Very Impressive, but how do you know they aren't guessing? You know how inventive some people are.

One thing we do know about his latest demise, is that reputable navy Seals carried it out, all of Obama's staff, CIA, and Dod were there, and DNA tests proved it.

It's all there in the latest Time magazine.

Of all the other "announcements" that Osama is dead, I think this is the only one that can be considered official. All the others were speculation.

I've changed my mind, too. I thought he should release it because I thought Al Qaeda and the Taliban, not to mention most of the ME, would refuse to believe bin Laden dead otherwise. Since that hasn't been the case, there's no reason a picture of a guy with only half a skull needs to be splashed all over the globe.

Explain this, oh 'wise' one...

If Bin Laden was really dead in one of those cases... why did Al Queda officially confirm his death in this case? Why not just deny it, yet again?

I changed my mind for a couple reasons. I think, regardless of whether photos are released, that most reasonable people will think that OBL is actually dead, because he hasn't come out with a new video, and AQ basically confirmed on their website that he had been killed. For the conspiracy theorists who only believe what they want to believe, I don't think a couple of photos would stop them - they'd only claim that the photos were doctored, or some bull**** like that.

As for why the photos shouldn't be released, I think the national security argument here is the strongest; releasing the photos could potentially increase the amount of backlash and put some a lot of extremists over the top and increase their thirst for revenge that such a gruesome thing happened to their beloved icon.

Ok, now, can you tell me that there's not a chance that this "evidence" could have been produced fraudulently??

I know it's less heroic, but the overwhelming testimony (which in this case trumps the clever story telling with massive lies that were coming out by the hour when this story first broke... first a big gunfight, then one man shooting from across the street, then they throw the body into the ocean "for the will of his religion" which was NOT the procedure, etc) suggests that OBL was actually a sick man even back in 2001 with a disease (allegedly) that has a max life expectancy of 5 years... and that was in 2002 where that came out.

So, ya, OBL IS dead, precisely when that happened is unknown as far as we know.

everyone else has discounted those 'reports'. You seem to think they are some sort of proof that Bin Laden has been dead for years.

Oh, so everyone else "decides" that bin laden actually survived his death all those years ago and so it actually happened like that because of the mass 'decision'???

Do you realize how delusional you sound there??? DECIDING REALITY... you can decide that jumping off a tall building is fine cause you've decided that you can fly. But once you take the leap reality will set in and show you that you were wrong in your belief.

So, what makes you believe that the MSM was lying then but they are now telling the truth??

your latter statement, for example. What is the point of that? It is pure circular reasoning: OBL should have released the photo (despite the reasons given for not having done so), therefore, he "bungled the story" (IYO, of course) because releasing the photo would have been the right thing to do because you say so.

Now, how's that for an example of an argument with no point?

I said those reprts were discounted. News 'reports' on stuff all the time that later turns out to not have happened. ALL news.

We should have the option. No worse than photos of people jumping off a burning building to their death

UBL in fact is not dead and rather was detained and is now in U.S. custody. Not only in custody, but in custody when everyone thinks he's dead, so, the CIA can do pretty much do anything they want to him. :shock::shock:

Yeah, al'Qaeda's confirmation of his death is fraudulent evidence because they're all in on the conspiracy too. The clue train left 10 minutes ago, you should get a refund for your tickets.

In this case there was a body, not just words, corpus delicti, and that's better than any hearsay evidence one can come up with. Is it conclusive, definitely not. Nothing humans do or say is conclusive, even if it's taped or has a dozen eye witnesses.

Finally, did they confirm his death or did they confirm his death as the US has been trying to explain with shifting stories and busted in lies.

There was no "scandal" with this talking about how he's been dead for years, it was just all under-reported and nobody really noticed. This will be the final time that bin laden will be pronounced dead, but so much of the story is just wrong.

I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't those in the military have to fill out some sort of after-action report detailing what happened?? So, how could it go from a "big shootout" to "one guy with a gun across the street"... and so on with all these lies...

This was a crafted story from the start.

I think he came to realize that since his BC only took a few hours before people were pointing out that it had been manipulated to SOME extent... The know that some independent analysis will show it to be a fake...

Biggest mistake that in a situation like this they throw the body in the ocean.
