Bush declines Obama invitation to go to ground zero

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama plans to visit New York City on Thursday to mark the death of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

NBC News reported that Obama invited former President George W. Bush to attend the event but Bush does not plan to attend.

I guess he has brush to clear...

I say send a Seal team to the ranch, pick W. up, and bring him to Manhattan.

Why would Bush ingratiate himself like that? This was Obama's victory.

It was also part of Bush's as well. But I just think President Bush is just trying to continue to stay out of the spotlight.

Don't be so ****ing sure, it was President Obama that got the job done.

You know what? AS much as I would like to say a liberal won this pissing match, the truth is that it was simply that the opportunity came along with Obama president. Obama really only gets credit in that he was the president when the opportunity came along.

If you read the article it says Bush would prefer to go to Ground Zero in 9/11 for the 10th anniversary of the attacks. Obama didn't get the job done, the military did and both Bush and Obama contributed to the military's success.

When I said this is Obama's victory, I was being kind of tongue in cheek (which doesn't translate well online). The general public is going to think that Obama is the man of the hour. Keen observers will know better but... you have to think of this on a simpler level when it comes to the masses.

Not sure why Bush would take part in such an event. It will be, at some level, a political event and it's easy to see why Bush would not attend.

Obama was making an effort toward bipartisanship by showing the left the victory is Bush's as well.

He's trying to unite the country. Bush was more comfortable to keep things divided.

Nope-the SEALS and other operatives got the job done

I will keep his uniting desires in mind the next time he makes a speech like he did a couple weeks ago where he blamed everything on the rich and BUSH

Not sure why Bush WOULDN'T want to go, but I don't support "picking him up." Leave Bush alone.

And if the mission was a failure with deaths of SEALS who would have gotten the blame? Don't bother answering, I already know the answer.

It took a President Commander-In-Chief who had the "guts" to pull the trigger, the whole operation could have ended like Carter's rescue of the Iranian hostages. The man deserves much praise for a gutzy call.

Bush let Osama bin Laden get away at Tora Bora, Afghanistan.

True, but it doesn't help Bush diverted attention away from a real enemy to a fake one.

Obama pulled no trigger. I commend his decision to go after Osama, but he was just the lucky one to find him during his presidency. You can thank Bush for GITMO and the info we got from there that helped lead us to Osama ;)

I bet I know which president the Seals would rather hang out with

I bet you think the Seals would rather hang out with the President who sent them to Iraq to die based on a lie... The President who ordered them to invade a country for disingenuous reasons creating a power void which attracted every extremist in the Middle-East, then ordered them to fight, without an exit strategy, the massive influx of insurgents.

The leader who ordered them stand down last time they had Bin Laden.

The Fake Cowboy vs. the calm cool collected CIC who has the respect of military leaders.

I bet you think the Vietnam soldiers loved LBJ and Nixon too.

President fulfilled a campaign promise to get Osama even if it meant going into Pakistan, the Right criticised him for that.

Another classic Turtle strawman... most likely regurgitation from Limbaugh.

It's a campaign stop. BO wants a photo showing him on equal footing with W celebrating BL's takedown. And I'm sure he'll have the usual snarky BS loaded onto the prompter. Why would W want to sit thru that?

And I'm not real sure this is appropriate right now anyway. The 10th anniversary is just a few months off. But hey if BO wants to go to Zero, fine.

You should write news copy for Fox. Nice spin.
