Re: Osama bin Laden is Dead

Come on SB.

The President stuck it out in Afghanistan and that probably led to this day. We'll have to wait and see and the "news" may change.

0bama deserves credit as CIC. I would do the same for Bush.

Yes, I can feel the respect!

Re: Osama bin Laden is Dead

Obama is about to speak I am sure Obama will try to use this as a political asset

I hate to burst your partisan bubble, but anyone would use it as a political asset. Kind of like how people tried to blame Clinton for 9/11 because he didn't get Obama during the first WTC bombing. Politics are all about utilizing assets.

Eight years to the day, now we can say, “Mission Accomplished.”

Come on. Don't follow what I am seeing right now on MSNBC. It may or may not be intended to be a cheap shot, but it still looks like it.

Re: Osama bin Laden is Dead

I suspect everyone wanted to be the first to throw out the scoop.

Yeah, that's why I assumed to - excited on several levels.

Re: Osama bin Laden is Dead

Some say he was killed last week by a missile some say a bullet.

What ever happened Obama will use it for political gain

Re: Osama bin laden is dead usa usa usa

And it happened on Obama's watch...

Kudos to him for not withdrawing troops too early and letting the terrorists rebuild.

Once Chaney and his political machine was out, the military and intelligence could function normally again and go after terrorists without some Haliburton profit agenda attached.

I know the far-righties like to deny this, because it appears in history books, but all the really effective military leaders have been Dems.

I agree with this. I didn't support Iraq, but I supported Afghanistan just because I wanted to get this guy and we ****ing got him. I'm glad he stuck it out instead of just dramatically pulling back.

I give both Presidents credit for elements of this whole announcement until we are sorted out even further in the decades to come what had transpired. Frankly, I'm happy for the United States and its allies at this moment.

It's about Bin Ladin.

We took him out, and Obama's watch.

Kudos to him for not withdrawing troops too early and letting the terrorists rebuild.

Call me a pessimist, Ron.

If it's true that that mother****er is dead, then it's happy day.

However, let's not get ahead of ourselves here and get too excited. I don't think this will have much of an impact on our current efforts in Afghanistan, especially since that conflict has evolved from one of taking out Al-Qaeda to one of fighting the Taliban and spending billions upon billions of dollars trying to nation-build.

For those who think that this will seriously impact the strength and abilities of anti-American terrorist organizations around the globe, think again. Many of these organizations are hierarchical in nature. You cut off the head, a new one ****in grows back. In recent years, AQ as an organization has been on a steady trend of devolving its power to regional and local groups like AQAP and others. Relatively speaking, Osama and the power of the original AQ leadership has been steadily decreasing ever since 9/11.

I'm not giving Obama too much credit for this. This thing just happened to occur on his watch. It's the pilot, or the infantryman or whoever took OBL out that deserve the real medal.

This should not be used for politics. What has Obama done different than Bush for him to take credit.

It is the Military that should get credit not politicians

Re: Obama to Make Late-Night Statement; Subject Not Announced

Everyone should understand that Obama was not the President, when this happened since he only now turned in his official birth video. Therefore Biden killed bin Laden, and will be elected President in 2012.

Not just that but I think he should "blame" Bush for it like he does everything else.

well I don't know if this means anything significant to us. but it is good the jerk is dead.

The Mission Accomplished was an end to war against Iraq. Mission Accomplished.

Saddam Hussein is dead. Mission Accomplished.

Meanwhile, tomorrow 45000 soldiers will still be in Iraq. Soldiers will continue to fight and die.
Meanwhile, tomorrow many more thousands of soldiers will be in Afghanistan. More soldiers continue to die in Afghanistan, more than during the Bush administration.

How much fun do you REALLY want to have with the Mission Accomplished banner?

Al-Qaeda leader Bin Laden 'dead'

A report says he was killed by a US air strike in Pakistan.

Obama will speak to this in a few minutes.

People are said to be gathered outside the White House chanting USA, USA.

BBC News - Al-Qaeda leader Bin Laden 'dead'
The US is in possession of Bin Laden's body, the reports say. President Barack Obama is due to make a statement shortly.

Bin Laden is top of the US most wanted list.

He is accused of being behind a number of atrocities, including the attacks on New York and Washington on 11 September 2001.
