Guantánamo leaks lift lid on world's most controversial prison

My neighbors daughter is stationed at Gitmo and deals with the terrorists every day.

Before she was stationed there she had the same opinion as many of you lefties.

After a few months dealing with these killers her opinion changed 180 degrees.

They are being treated under the guidelines of the Geneva Convention even though we have no obligation to do so.

Pfft, get her on the forums. I'm sure she hasn't seen any torture, from the cafeteria...

After a few months dealing with these killers her opinion changed 180 degrees.

Funny yet the opinion of the terrorists hasnt changed... they only smash their heads on the walls in attempted suicide and write of the 'brutality' of their opressors on the tile in blood as they try to kill themselves every now and then, virtually overdosed on antidepressants with mind**** side effects. Not all of them though, some of them likely get along fine and enjoy their soccer in a cage to entertain themselves. As for post 29# issue a valid question and we can work on valid answers together.

Given the in-ability of these terrorists to honor thier word and not go back to country x,y, or z, why should be not just take them out of the fight.

What?

They want to kill Americans.

Last time I checked our prisons are full of Americans.

Does that help?

Now the right values prisoners... thats sweet of you. Also, solitary confinement, or possibly a special wing in maximum security prison mean anything?

Another naive goldenboy soldier. I know what Im talking about. Post Soviet Studies, I'm reading on the bureaucracy of the gulag now.

The term Mickey Mouse detainee is a buzzword coined from one of your superiors. Maybe someone running the place. Try google.

The Russians killed every one in the villages they attacked in Afghanistan. Men, women and children.

I won't guess your age, but the fact that there are afghans today MAY be a clue that it wasn't so. Wouldn't know I'd have to put a gun down and read a book.

Also link the quran in the ****ter hoax.

Please note that all my fiery posts are filled with content I've personally read. From... the news. Do you read newspapers?

She escorts them from the prison to various places around the base.

After taking months of abuse she changed her mind about them.

No one at Gitmo is being tortured. Sorry lefties. It's a hoax.

They do this on purpose to get attention and support. It's obviously worked on you.

The answers to those questions blows up the lefties hoax about Gitmo.

I'm not a soldier and never have been.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

So you have no idea what the Russians did in Afghanistan.

I don't read newspapers. If I did I'd be just as misinformed as you are.

Link it up bro! I can't wait to get the last decade of media hysteria and global outrage blown out of the water. Hell, I may even change my mind about the global terror war if you can do this all in this thread. Not only that, we can link it and have it in the news:

Breaking News: CNN: Nobody ever tortured at gitmo ever.

But ****, your neighbor's daughter knows.

You contracted to tell us this stuff?

Bah, I suck... /meh you carried yourself with the opinion of someone from over there.

My bad.

So you have no idea what the Russians did in Afghanistan.

Genocidal einsatzgruppen don't strike me as being in the picture.

Pardon my haranguing you. Didn't realize you didnt know any better.

I guess your "studies" don't include the venona documents.

Who exactly was tortured at Gitmo and what was the torture method? I want exact information. Not a liberal diatribe.

Well Susan Crawford a retired judge appointed by the Bush administration to oversee tribunals for Guantanamo Bay detainees for the Pentagon admitted that there was torture at Gitmo..

When have captured terrorist ever had US Constitutional rights like habeas corpus?

"Terrorist" or suspect? Which one?
Are we going to show them that we are upholders of Freedom and our constitution? Are we not monsters and the defender of Freedom? Or are we going to terror the terrorist like in the good old days and show them how crazy America can get? Shouldnt we treat people correctly no matter how terrible they are towards us? . How we treat them determines how terrible they could be in the future.

What does the Geneva Convention say about terrorists captured on a battlefield?

Well it says this; "Inhabitants of a non-occupied territory, who on the approach of the enemy spontaneously take up arms to resist the invading forces, without having had time to form themselves into regular armed units, provided they carry arms openly and respect the laws and customs of war"
It also says this: "No physical or mental torture, nor any other form of coercion, may be inflicted on prisoners of war to secure from them information of any kind whatever. Prisoners of war who refuse to answer may not be threatened, insulted, or exposed to any unpleasant or disadvantageous treatment of any kind."

When have captured POW's, much less terrorists, had a right to a trial in US criminal or civil court?

Bah, I suck... /meh you carried yourself with the opinion of someone from over there.

My bad.

Yeah, why bother listening to people who actually deal with these guys on a daily basis.

Genocidal einsatzgruppen don't strike me as being in the picture.

Pardon my haranguing you. Didn't realize you didnt know any better.

You're the one who has no idea what the Russians did to political prisoners or Afghan civilians.

You're making claims you have no hope of defending.

. I know what Im talking about.

You don't have a clue...

Terrorist have no "right to notice or due process" in ****in' combat! You don't notify or try terrorists - you shoot them in the ****in' face.

The objective is not to capture them. The objective is to kill them. Get it?

isolation, sleep deprivation, forced nudity and exposure to cold

None of this is torture. Nice try.

"Terrorist" or suspect? Which one?

Terrorists. The guys at Gitmo are terrorists.

Terrorists don't "carry arms openly and respect the laws and customs of war"

How did you miss that?

Prisoners of war who refuse to answer may not be threatened, insulted, or exposed to any unpleasant or disadvantageous treatment of any kind."

Terrorists are not POW's and do not have the protections of the Geneva Convention.

Why don't you know that?

When have captured POW's, much less terrorists, had a right to a trial in US criminal or civil court?

You missed a question.

world's most controversial prison

That would be news to the political prisoners in China and North Korea.

Shhh......

Deflect the heat. Go ahead. You still don't know what google is.

Ill toss some cards on the table.

Outdoor loudspeakers in small rooms at maximum volume blaring the hardest music on the market for extended periods of time to force sleep deprivation. You know, when you start hallucinating and going insane.

People banging their heads on the walls trying to kill themselves.

People writing suicide notes in blood on said walls.

Use some research skills. That's off the top of my head from actual incidents I've read in the media. Not a whacko site, actual journalists. Hopefully it doesnt boil down to an issue of face for you but I invite you to trounce around the internet and see what you find. But then again you believe newspapers are a lie, so I may be wasting my time here and you should probably go back to watching GI joe.

Just so people know, I'm pretty sure Gitmo isn't closing in the next year or so.

There is no other place to keep prisoners of a war like we are fighting. We most likely aren't going to bring them to US soil to be tried in our courts and it also unlikely that they will be released to kill more people. It's called "a rock" and "a hardplace" and Gitmo is right there in the middle.

It's a bit more than that. It wasn't just a, "Oh great, a legal grey area where there is no precedent so we'll just put them here until we figure it out" kind of situation. It was more of a, "Oh goodie, a somewhat justifiable means to do whatever the hell we want without breaking the law!" kind of colossal cluster ****.

Yeah, America is getting really, really good at doing that. I thought we stood for more than beating around the legal bush. There was a time when the whole world looked to us to guide them out of Communist oppression and steer them toward principles of freedom and democracy. Now look at us. We are too busy apologizing for our own mess, or pretending it doesn't exist. It took a military whistle blower and some Australian guy who isn't even an American citizen to show us the reality, and even now there are many who refuse to look at it.

Our country is heading down a very ominous path. I wish people would get their heads out of the sand and wake the **** up already.

Sooo im guessing im sick because i dont support torture? I dont support questionable methods of interrogation? I dont support fair trials? I dont support the right to habeus corpus? I dont support people who have been innocent being held for years and years on end?

Your right i am "sick".. Sorry i believe in the right of law.... Something i thought America stood for.. Oh well im just "sick."

You're a socialist, you're not for anything America ever stood for.

We cannot count on any info that is gained from torture as it is unreliable. See this this this, and this. Thus, anyone whom we have tortured at Gitmo we cannot try and say that we have truly produced a fair trial.

Apparently America stands for not undestanding what socialism is. Sure you've heard it a million times but.... ever visited a public library?

Yeah, I went to the W&M library, maybe that's the problem.

You would be wrong. Nothing justifies not adhereing to rule of law. Nothing justifies risking harming innocent people. We're a noble and brave people. We should not be so scared that we become more like that which we fight than our better self.
