Mn/DOT to test driver's 'mileage tax'

    Mn/DOT to test driver's 'mileage tax' | kare11.com

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is looking for 500 people to test technology that could someday be used to collect a mileage-based user fee.

Mn/DOT anticipates a fee on road usage might someday be necessary as more fuel efficient and hybrid cars are on the road, decreasing revenue from the gas tax.

The Minnesota Legislature appropriated $5 million from the trunk highway fund for the demonstration in 2007.
I wish they had given me the $5 million for an answer to this dilemma. Why don’t they just look at the odometer when the vehicle goes in for a smog check?

More tax dollars being wasted by brilliant government ideas.

It's an even bigger waste than you think, as that tax has zero chance of ever becoming a law.

We don't have smog checks here. You only go to the mechanic when you actually need something fixed.

Well there you go! If you don’t already have smog checks then the state can suck the life out of you that way while making your cars less reliable and more expensive to maintain.

Yeah you're gonna charge me taxes for when I'm NOT driving in the state? Hmm? Sorry friend but fail.

Of course, this entire idea is fail. Just wait till they decide "If you drive more then 100 miles in a week you're going to be charged an "Earth Tax" or some stupidity.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

Umm...I already pay for the roads via taxes. They shouldn't be allowed to charge me again for the same damned thing.

No, I'm just looking to make a quick $5 mil. My idea was just as good as thier idea was. Well other than they don't smog in that state.

Well we'll have GPS tracking mileage and phones cover when we are on foot, and since many of us are most likely on the Obama enemies list I expect to be one of the first to be tracked because I do believe in and respect that document Obama seems to hate.

For you Liberals it's the Constitution.

Hopefully the scumbags proposing this idea will no longer have a job.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Alright, well, since this has nothing to do with Obama and not one liberal has posted in support of this, I'm going to go ahead and take a page straight out of your book.
