Yep, this tax is a load of bull****. We already pay for the roads, and gas tax, and insurance, it makes no ****ing sense.
Well, figure it out, okay? Don't strain yourself, but a little gentle exercise won't do you any harm.
How are federal and state highway funds collected?
Ease into it, don't hurt yourself...highways are collected at the pump.
Now, this is could be difficult, but the curb is only two inches high...what is special about hybrid and "alternative fuel" vehicles?
That's right.
They don't consume as much gasoline for each mile travelled. Therefore the allegation is that the ultralight death traps are doing more damage per tax dollar collected than real cars.
Thus the tax addicts have a pretend excuse to implement a new control and monitoring scheme, and the enablers of the tax addicts will go along, except, of course, the usual enablers who are always demanding higher taxes on others have, for the most part, but clearly not all, have figured out that since they're the fools who bought into the hybrid fantasy they're the problem the tax addicts are trying to fix. So, even though they secretly agree, they're not going public with it.
It's funny how they're all for raising taxes until they discover it's their turn in the barrel.
Does that explain things for you, honey?
No, this assumption that the hybrid does more more road damage per mile traveled is obviously false, and the con men know this. If it was simply a function of miles travelled, these control freaks would have had super-taxes on motorcycles long long ago. The reality is that most of the damage is done by the heavy trucks and transports and the weather. Certainly all vehicles commit wear, a road is an infinite bearing race and as such simply cannot be built to withstand wear from traffic forever.
But .... the Mayor has never seen a tax addict give up on the victim once the seed has been planted....
