House passes huge GOP budget cuts

We also need to raise the FICA caps to make up for what the govenment has stolen from the SS funds.

It would make more sense for the government to cut from other places and pay it into SS, since they were willing to do the opposite before, rather than letting taxpayers cover it again.

The top tax class has been getting a large break on taxes for the last 30 years. If anyone should help make up the difference it should be them. We can also end our optional wars and corporate welfare to those companies not creating jobs here in this country.

I think your comments lose credibility when just try to complain about tax breaks for just one group of people. If people were serious that the bush tax cuts can no longer be afforded then have some consistency in that view and abolish all of those cuts, not just the ones that do not effect you.

so social security can't keep the promises it made to citizens paying in hundreds of thousands of dollars over their working lives?

that's a success?

i liked jewels of the new deal, better

Yes it is. It is not unusual to have to fine tune and repair things from time to time Social Security is no different.

Currently 93% of American workers pay FICA tax on 100% of their income. All we need to do is make 100% of American workers pay fica tax on 100% of their income while freezing benefits to todays level plus inflation and the problem is pretty much solved.

If they were getting a special break, it would make sense that they were paying more than everyone else and they are not.
The government is not entitled to a specific portion of your income.

Oh cool, so I should just quintuple what I'm paying now, not see any increases in benefits - that's cool right? Especially when I'm already not going to see most of what I put in?

I see no reason why I should be paying for 5-6 other peoples' retirements.

House passes huge GOP budget cuts, opposing Obama - Yahoo! News

Republicans controlling the House pushed to passage on Friday a bold but politically dangerous budget blueprint to slash social safety net programs like food stamps and Medicaid and fundamentally restructure Medicare health care for the elderly.

The choice in the next election is becoming more and more clear. There is no question which party represents the interests of the wealthy and which party represents the interests of the rest of the country.

The GOP fought hard earlier to preserve tax cuts for those making over 250K. Today they showed how they want to pay for those cuts...by slashing money from food stamps, medicaid and medicare.

The GOP war on the elderly, the poor and the working class continues....

There have been so many voters' remorse that those in Congress will quickly try any trick in the book to get their for the rich agenda passed so if they lies in campaign ads don't get them back in, they will at least have served their masters well and may be rewarded with lobbyists jobs for mega corporations.

When you have high debt and cut your revenue how does that help things?

when you have hi debt and refuse to touch it...

the slasher's entire position on entitlement reform as stated in his great speech, his excellent speech last wednesday---beef up the independent advisory board and regularize the fed/state schedule per medicaid (the ghetto of health care)

We also need to raise the FICA caps to make up for what the govenment has stolen from the SS funds.

so joe sixpack has to pay for bureacratic larceny?

thanks a lot, delano

Bureaucratic larceny is how you describe the only solvent and guaranteed retirement program in this nation? If it weren't for every president stealing monies from the Social Security fund, the most being Bush the lesser, this would not be an issue.

americans on medicaid fare worse---longer stays, higher costs and mortalities---than their neighbors with NO INSURANCE

ASA: ASA 130th Annual Meeting Abstracts - Primary Payer Status Affects Mortality For Major Surgical Operations

That's not what your data says

Objectives: Medicaid and Uninsured populations are a significant focus of current healthcare reform. We hypothesized that outcomes following major surgical operations in the United States is dependent on primary payer status.
Methods: From 2003-2007, 893,658 major surgical operations were evaluated using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) database: lung resection, esophagectomy, colectomy, pancreatectomy, gastrectomy, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, hip replacement, and coronary artery bypass. Patients were stratified by primary payer status: Medicare (n=491,829), Medicaid (n=40,259), Private Insurance (n=337,535), and Uninsured (n=24,035). Multivariate regression models were applied to assess outcomes.
Results: Unadjusted mortality for Medicare (4.4%, OR= 3.51), Medicaid (3.7%, OR: 2.86) and Uninsured (3.2%, OR: 2.51) patient groups were higher compared to Private Insurance groups (1.3%, p<0.001). Moreover, mortality was lowest for Private Insurance patients independent of operation. Importantly, after controlling for age, gender, income, geographic region, operation, and 30 comorbid conditions, Medicaid payer status was associated with the longest length of stay and highest total costs (p<0.001). In addition, Medicaid (p<0.001) and Uninsured (p<0.001) payer status independently conferred the highest adjusted risks of mortality (Table 1).

Private insurance people seem to die more often from the same type of healthcare treatments that Medicare and Medicaid get.

I have no idea what you base that on

No, ghetto healthcare is Wal-Mart paying such low wages that their employees qualify for and are encouraged by the corporation to get Medicaid.

Anyone who believes Obama will hurt the rich after seeing him in action for two years MUST be a republican teabagger.

i see you are having the same problem as conservative, that is proving your claim.

Are you going to chase me around for 40 posts. It is my learned observation based on several things

1) the crap dem politicians spew

2) what has happened to the size of the government and the deficit as a result of the current tax system that allows the many to demand more and more spending that they don't have to pay for

You cannot disprove the fact that a) we have this sort of system b) that dem politicians constantly claim the rich need to pay more and c) the government and deficit has grown tremendously since the new deal

you can try-though I doubt you have the mojo-to claim my conclusions and analysis are flawed.

if you were in a profession that required analytical reasoning you would understand that I take facts that cannot be disputed and from those facts conclude that certain things have happened because of those facts. I do it daily in my legal practice. A client will say X,Y, and Z are true and i have to predict what the outcome will be.

if you bring immigration into this you'll never get a deal

keep your eye on the ball

that is unadulterated crap. the top class pays far more taxes than any other group when it comes to actual money to the federal government

I love how the socialists want to compare marginal rates with the confiscatory top margins due to WWII and ignore the share of the tax burden the rich shoulder and Ignore the fact that for more than half our country's history the tax rates on the rich's income was far far far lower than it is today

the people getting a break are the people who have the exact same citizenship benefits as we do and don't pay any federal income taxes
