Judge dismisses one of three lawsuits on Wisconsin law
The Wisconsin judge who blocked the implementation of the state law limiting collective bargaining by public workers threw out one of the three lawsuits on Thursday challenging the controversial measure.

The suit, which claimed the law's passage violated the state's constitution, was filed by Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk and County Board Chair Scott McDonell.

Dane County Circuit Court Judge Maryann Sumi said the county officials lacked standing to assert constitutional claims. She said they could refile their suit as private citizens.

One down, two to go.

I'd like to see that clause. Or the briefing from the lawyers on how they're spinning the clause to apply to the "rights" of union workers...

One down and some more to go i should think.

Ahh, the reason matters. ;)

Hm, I think this graphic expresses how I feel about this whole mess.

I give it to the Republicans for taking the attention completely away from Wall Street and the lobbyists.

wow... as many negative posts as there were in the Walker threads, I thought more liberal leaning posters would be uo in arms about this one. I guess they shot their load, huh.

So, how much money have teachers, planned parenthood and NPR generated and injected into the economy? None? That's what I thought.

So, based on that fact, what is the contribution they're making to our society, exactly?

Wait, you're saying education doesn't effect the economy?

Yeah! What the hell have teachers ever done for society anyway?

Why, because a judge dismissed a lawsuit for lack of standing? It has nothing to do with the merits of the case, nor does is prevent the case from being re-filed. In fact, it doesn't mean a thing.

Considering that this is the US education system we are talking about...Not much, honestly
Very snarky. Almost near being clever. almost near it. But ultimately, you can't back it up with anything factual. It's just team cheering.

I mean somehow the US was a super power. We achieved technological superiority over every other nation in the history of the planet. But there's no way that happened in our schools had a thing to do with it. Riiiight.

You are asking what contribution teachers make to our society? Wow, that is sad.

Of course, even assuming that teachers did absolutely nothing, it is far better than tanking the economy and using the tax payers for a bail out.

wait, are you saying that teachers unions aren't harmful to education?

Really? Compared to who?

Iceland

And that's just in reading. We rank allot lower in math and a little lower in science.

Noooooooo.

The California Federation of Teachers — a branch of the AFL-CIO — has adopted a resolution at its annual conference supporting convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, the Daily Caller reports.

From TheDC, which notes that Abu-Jamal is now being called a “journalist:”

Among the resolutions largely pertaining to education and collective bargaining rights was Resolution 19 – to “Reaffirm support for death row journalist.”

“Therefore, be it resolved, that the California Federation of Teachers reaffirm its support and demand that the courts consider the evidence of innocence of Mumia Abu-Jamal,” the Committee Report reads.

Mumia Abu-Jamal, a former member of the Black Panther Party, was convicted of shooting, multiple times, Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981. He reportedly confessed to the crime and was given the death penalty.

Instead of recognizing Abu-Jamal’s conviction, the federation believes he is innocent and a civil rights hero.

Good point. Who needs that baby anyway? It's all contaminated from the bathwater.
This article proves education is worthless and the people who provided it are leeches on society.

Which is why you fail to understand what's really going if that's your "logic"

Wow, a list of countries, most of which you would consider socialist by American standards. Exactly how many of those countries don't have teachers unions?

You aren't making a very good case here.

I'm sorry, I'm still waiting for one of your buddies in this thread to explain why teachers contribute nothing to society and another to explain why practically socialist countries with extensive teacher unions have better education systems than us. I can totally tell that I am the one with crappy logic.

I think the majority of people aren't against teacher unions. They're against the payscale, benefits and tenure that teachers unions are able to negotiate at the bargaining table thanks to their Democratic patrons. This is more about taxpayers being unable to afford these payscales and benefits than it is about teachers 'unions themselves.

Most of those are not socialist country's by any means. As usual you fail with your assumptions.

I have no idea which have unions and which don't as that was NOT the question you asked. You asked...

Really? Compared to who? as in the teachers contributions to society.

So I have correctly pointed out how low we are on the education ladder compared to other mostly Western nations.

So you have no case here at all. I mean really a red herring. So typical.

By the typical American standards they are socialist. I'm still waiting to hear how those countries eradicated teacher's unions and completely privatized their education. As far as you not asking, go read the original graphic I posted in this thread. You are the only one who is being irrelevant.
