Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher's Anti-Sex Slavery Campaign Blasted By Critics

Article: Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher's Anti-Sex Slavery Campaign Blasted by Critics - FoxNews.com

Demi Moore, husband Ashton Kutcher and their self-titled the Demi and Ashton Foundation (DNA), which seeks to combat the sexual exploitation and slavery of minors, have come under fire this week over a campaign many consider to be inappropriately light and fluffy given the severity of the issue.

The Hollywood power couple enlisted an array of their A and B-list friends (including Sean Penn, Jessica Biel, Eva Longoria and Justin Timberlake) for a public service campaign which consists of several short videos featuring the slogan “Real Men Don’t Buy Girls.”
Honestly? So few people are even aware that this is an issue that I think anything that raises awareness should be praised. If people were forced to confront the actual horror of this industry, the results wouldn't be pretty-- or effective.

Well, to be fair, from what I read, critics feel it doesn't take the issue seriously enough.

“This is what happens when celebrities do an issue divorced from the movement. Once you chose an issue and don’t do it in collaboration with people who have been doing this for a long time, this is what you end up with," Norma Ramos, Executive Director of the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women told FOX411.com. "There is a general dumbing down that is going on and this is an example of dumbing down a social justice movement with the narrowest message possible.”*

    From the OP link.

BTW, can't wait to see who here blasts FOX for criticizing the campaign, when, in fact, Fox just happens to be the one covering the story. LOL

You would have to either not be aware of your suurroundings or simply not care to not know this is a real issue. The folks need to get their head out of sands and why would anybody blast something that brings awareness and help towards a serious issue?

They think the campaign doesn't take the issue "seriously enough". Personally, I think that if they did, if they showed this industry in its true horror, it would horrify people and turn them off rather than motivate them to fight. If something's too ugly for us to deal with, we just refuse to see it.
