    Global military spending growth slows

Sky News: Global military spending growth slows

Growth in global military spending slowed to its lowest level since 2001 last year as the world economic crisis hit defence budgets, Swedish think-tank SIPRI said on Monday.

World military spending rose only 1.3 per cent in 2010 to $US1.63 trillion ($A1.55 trillion), after average annual growth of 5.1 per cent between 2001 and 2009, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said as it released its latest report on international military expenditures
    Somewhat good news I guess.

    Original press release below

11 April 2011: World military spending reached $1.6 trillion in 2010, biggest increase in South America, fall in Europe according to new SIPRI data —

    Report it self

The most shocking thing is that the US spent more than China, Russia, UK, France, Japan, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia.... Combined..

The US seriously has to consider its military spending imo... they are outspending by far their "enemies" in China, Russia, France, UK and the rest of the world.

If by "shocking" you mean "it's been this way for a while."
