I doubt it is only the "rabid right wing fanatics" who want to preserve human rights and freedoms but, as has already been explained, the bill to outlaw Sharia is redundant.

The moment anyone in the United States or Canada starts stoning women and Gays then all those rabid right wing fanatics will be out there protecting them. The Left will be hiding under their beds.

"Just days after the ballot initiative was approved, Awad challenged it in federal court, telling Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange that the amendment curtails his religious freedom. After a brief hearing on Monday, Miles-LaGrange granted a temporary restraining order and said the law may not be certified until all the constitutional arguments are heard."

there are arbitration courts in the US that deal solely with civil matters. And if both parties openly agree to such a process, then they are free to enter these under the guidance of a religious authority

jewish arbitration - Jewish Beth Din

Personally I think allowing any such court is problematic, but outlawing their use for one specific religion would clearly be unconstitutional

You simply will never understand. When it is justified under Sharia law its OK...and they dont stone ALL women (ok...they would stone all gays), just the ones that teach their children to read, dare to flirt, get raped, talk back to their parents, date outside of their religion or just in general people that the family doesnt like, etc. Oh...and honor killings...but those are for the good of the family AND the woman being stoned so that she can be free from her sinful ways. And not tempt men anymore.

Here is a White Christian being arrested for not asking permission to exercise a right... and this happened in the US... the capital city, right in front of the seat of power.. Congress.
OK, what the **** does someone's religion have to do with this? And it's pretty much BS to arrest someone for disorderly conduct at a protest less they were hurting someone. However, it's not exactly being arrested for not asking permission. They were protesting, he didn't get arrested for protesting. He was arrested for disorderly conduct.

OK My mistake. They only stone Gays and 'some' women.

But let's be fair here. They don't stone all Gays either. Some they hang from lampposts.

Religion has something to do with OP post, and hence I feel fully justified to mention the religion of most if not all those arrested for EXACTLY the same thing in Washington DC.

Religion had nothing to do with the protest or the arrest for disorderly conduct.

    Nothing. Nada. Zip.

But it wasn't exactly the same thing, as you've been told. So, what's your point then? In America religion doesn't matter, it may in France but then again France is one of the (if not #1) most xenophobic countries out there. They directly arrested 61 people for protesting. Where as in your post you gave 1 person was arrested, not for the act of protesting like in France, but rather for disorderly conduct. Doesn't strike me as EXACTLY the same thing.
