Possible deal in works as shutdown deadline nears

Perilously close to a government shutdown, the White House and congressional leaders closed in on a possible deal to cut tens of billions of dollars in federal spending and avert the closure, officials said Friday night.

House Republican leaders summoned their rank and file to a late night meeting for what aides said would be an update on the talks.

Democrats said they were reviewing the details of a possible tentative agreement.

Well....let's see. In any case, too close for comfort.

Woohoo good to hear it's an actual full rest of the year deal rather than another short term thing

Oh. My. God. They actually the rest of the year done, rather than a short term deal. That is actually really surprising.

And we even got rid of the ideological riders.

Good news. Once in a great while, we do get good news from Washington.

I'm not sure it's the long-term bill that goes through the end of this fiscal year that was agreed upon. I think the President will sign a 6 or 7 day CR to fund the government only with the stipulation that the last minute issues can be ironed out (non-EPA/healthcare funding rider and funding for Planned Parenthood taken up in the actual bill) and that the final budget is voted on and passed immediately after the extension period expires.

Jeez this article is so biased in it's wording, just report the ****ing facts, instead of saying that both sides claimed fault while only giving the democratic reasoning for republican fault.

I think maybe you should view the video linked above. Maybe you'll change your opinion on the matter.
