the Obama economy has not been good to these kids. I'm thinking they don't come out in 2012 in the same numbers they did in 2008.
They may not come in the same numbers. However, the economy wasn't good to them before they came out the first time. It is really likely that Obama did keep the economy from being worse. Much of what went wrong went wrong long before Obama was elected.

In fact, as I keep saying, no presindet controls the economy. It's a fools game to ever blame or credit the president. But if you are going to do so, it ahs to be done so across the baord, with some link to actual action taken or not taken.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

Yes, both sides are too idealogical and beholden to special interest groups. Until that changes, and it is a change that only be forced, it is fool hardy to only blame one party while ignoring the other.

What tax increases? Obama is more concerned about special interests than he is a balanced budget or the deficit

The problem is Obama and the democrats care more about their special interests than they do government workers and the military

If by "special interests" you mean his entire constituency who support the healthcare funding that Republicans are trying to axe...

I'm thinking that's going to play well in 2012. Obama threatens to veto the Troop Support Bill, stopping our soldiers in the field from getting paid, and then went on vacation to Williamsburg.
Which is exactly the problem here. The GOP isn't all teary-eyed wishing those meany dems wouldn't hurt our troops, they're doing this because it will look bad in 2012 when Obama vetos the "Troops Support Bill*"

*Also repeal of Obamacare, elimination of funding for planned parenthood, bill of atainder dealing with KSM, eliminates some environmental protections...

    big picture:

    1. if you wanna VETO boehner's cr over PLANNED PARENTHOOD, by all means, go for it---hey, we're not funding abortion, we're just giving money to PP

    2. most mature americans recognize that major reform of medicare is urgently necessary---obama already did, it's called OBAMACARE

    3. why did the party, with the white house, 59 senators and a plurality of 78 downstairs, fail to pass a budget for this year

    4. why has the senate done SQUAT since the gop house passed hr1 in FEBRUARY

    5. obama's vaunted DEBT COMMISSION recommends major restructuring of entitlements TODAY before it's too late---why is the president's 2012 budget too scared to TOUCH em

    6. leadership, anyone?

That doesn't really matter. You can't expect them to want to fund things they are ideologically opposed too. Either way, what the GOP is doing now or not is irrelevant to the fact that the Democrats have quite simply screwed the pooch so badly that we are in this mess now. You can hardly blame the GOP for getting here.

Who is President Obama's "entire constituency"?
