U.S. to pull strike jets from Libya mission

I don't see how many conservatives don't support this decision by Obama. Many people often complain that Europe is too dependent on US forces to keep the peace and do their dirty business while they sit back and do nothing, this is the equivalent of throwing a kid in the deep end so he learns how to swim. He's forcing them to live up their words with actual action, or at the very least that seems to be the plan.

Most Conservatives opposed even ****ing with Libya...unless we were going to do it right.

According to the link I posted, the Euros can't get the job done. At the end of the day, the U.S. is going to have to come back and clean up their ****ing mess...as usual.

The damage is already done and it's irreversible

Complete bungling by the amateurs in Washington. Now that the US belatedly rushed in to take charge of this stupid operation, we have obviously had a realization in DC that this whole thing wasn't such a good idea, and now we want out.

Why piss off other arab countries when many of them are already against, the West/US? It's now just easier to hate Westerners and non-Muslims

For the country? Yeah right. Nothing would happen to the US if we did the right thing and GTFO.

Our nation and the President will lose a great deal of credibility and much damage if the President's words are viewed as nothing but political rhetoric.

It always amazes me that people think the words of the POTUS on issues like Libya don't matter. As if he can take them back whenever he wants.

This is going south fast.

The mistakes made early on may prove to be fatal to the intended goals in Libya.

What's going to happen? Will people stop lending us money? Stop selling to us? Attack us? What's going to happen if we do the right thing and get out of there? We're spending way too much money on these offensive, foreign wars which are not our problems.

Also, I think anyone who endorses this whole sale use of our military in affairs that are not our own should never ONCE bitch about the deficit and our spending since they are endorsing the largest waste of money our government engages in.

It was a UN-NATO action. Let the UN-NATO do the heavy lifting. Then when they take out civilians in a collateral damage oops!, they will be frantic to find someone to point their collective fingers at since the USA didn't do it... for once.

I've heard these arguments before and I don't agree with them.

When the nations of the world can't take the President's word anymore we lose more than money.

We have the money to spend on humanitarian military missions and it's a bargain to get a free and peaceful nation in the ME. That is a legitimate expense with great rewards.

I will always speak out against needless government spending and regulations. Always have.

NATO aircraft...not American...already wasted 13 rebs, by mistake. That didn't take long.

I would agree if NATO air strikes were effective. According to the rebels it takes hours after they request air assistance and it's not enough. At the moment it's a stalemate. Gaddafi's guys have ditched their heavy equipment and are moving around in light trucks according to one reporter. If that's true they can blend in with civilians and very difficult to spot from aircraft overhead.

If 0bama wants to win this it will take a much bigger effort. It might already be too late.

If he has no intention of achieving his stated goals then let’s get out. What's the point?

What a grim article. NATO doesn't have anywhere near enough air assets.

30% of Gaddafi's military destroyed? That's it?

.....several tanks.....10 APC's......couple of SAM sites......some old planes.....over the past few days.

Not nearly enough. 0bama has passed the buck to NATO knowing they couldn't get the job done.

Was he serious when he committed the US to this operation? I'm beginning to wonder.

he clearly did not think thru the consequences of his latest WAR

not even days

let alone weeks

just between you and me, friend, so long as this keystone klutz is running our pentagon it is PRUDENT to avoid all military engagement (or as much as can be)

we simply cannot win with this woebegone white house

stay up

He still can't believe that Ghadaffy did not just leave when Obama told him to like that guy in Egypt. Doesn't that crazy guy in Libya know that the "change we can believe in" man told him to go???

obama's a joke

remember the nobel?

LOL!

He did indeed say Gaddafi must leave.

The world is waiting to see if 0bama's word is any good or if it's just empty rhetoric.

Many Americans were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and trust that he had thought this through. He seems to have been taken by surprise and that is probably the fault of our intelligence agencies. They probably failed to predict this and give 0bama time to develop his policies given certain scenarios around the ME.

For me at least 0bama is making too many mistakes. This last one to withdraw air support may prove fatal. If you go in you go in with both feet. It’s a digital decision.

Shat or get off the pot Mr. President.

today:

The United States may consider sending troops into Libya with a possible international ground force that could aid the rebels, according to the general who led the military mission until NATO took over.

Army Gen. Carter Ham also told lawmakers Thursday that added American participation would not be ideal, and ground troops could erode the international coalition and make it more difficult to get Arab support for operations in Libya.

Ham said the operation was largely stalemated now and was more likely to remain that way since America has transferred control to NATO.

are you sure these people know what they're doing

It's blatantly obvious 0bama never intended to achieve his stated missions in Libya.

While the situation is falling apart he goes on yet another vacation to Williamsburg.

If this is his best effort pathetic doesn't begin to explain it.

If we don't intend to win in Libya then let's get the hell out of there.

Guess he really is just like Bush.

Now now... Obama promised there would be no American boots on the ground in Libya. He would NEVER lie to us, now would he?

Yeah, 0bama is just like Bush.

Bush gave up in Iraq after a few weeks. Everyone knows that.

Bush went on more vacations than anyone else, he ran a military campaign into the ground through stupidity and poor planning, he wasted tons of money and significantly increased the deficit. Just like Obama. Peas in a pod. The fact that some would endorse Bush but condemn Obama only goes to show that individual's hypocrisy.
