fannie and freddie were placed under federal receivership. they were no longer privately owned and operated enterprises. the government assumed responsibility for operating them. what specific reforms would have been necessary once the federal government took over?
tell us what they might be

I thought you meant in the country today. My mistake if you didn't.

Homeland Security is fairly new so there isn't much of a precedent. And call me a cynic if you want but I didn't think all but one of the women accusing President Clinton of sexual assault or harrassment being audited by the IRS was a coincidence. And, I remember the little nitwit who was the head of White House security under the Clintons who illegally accessed thousands of FBI files to enter into a Democrat database. I remember President Johnson listened to tapes made illegally by the FBI of Rev. Martin Luther King. And don't forget our esteemed president who said that they reward their friends and punish their enemies. Of course, he wasn't talking about foreigners. He feels his enemies are closer to home.

    So, is this unprecedented?

Actually, I did. We've never hired a woman for the job, religion is apparently a valid consideration (just ask Obama or Mitt Romney or ask yourself how many Catholic Presidents we've had), and it's been a very very very long time since anything other than a machine candidate sat in the office.
I'm already gearing up for Finger Vote 2014.

Just for reference, means my post was a giant steaming pile of sarcasm.

Now about 0bama's open and transparent government? Any comment on that?
This is open & transparent government. "Freedom of Information Act requests sent to the DHS were reviewed by Obama administration political appointees.."

Indeed, Bush II ran this country into the ground. Obama promised change and didn't deliver. But what, exactly, was the alternative?

    the alternative?

he should have honored foia requests instead of stonewalling

he also shoulda put health care on cspan

he shouldn't have grandfathered the aig bonuses, he shouldn't have instructed aig to keep secrets from the sec, he should have given back the aig contributions

he shouldn't have done the secret deal with phrma, he shouldn't have taken all that bp money and then exempted the rig from impact studies

he should have been the president he promised he'd be

it all comes down to character

    know the MAN

Well then, if you meant in the country today I completely disagree.
