Hope someone sues/arrests Terry Jones. He is the direct cause of these deaths. He is the one that shouted "FIRE!" in a closed space and people got killed trying to get out.

Gotta love RFERL. Great source.

A nation that allows burning the word of god. Tsk Tsk. No wonder it seems like the apocalypse to them.

Yelling fire in a crowded theatre comparison? More like he yelled "this movie sucks" in a theatre and the films director and his pals went on a killing spree of completely unrelated people in a different country.

There is something sick about the culture in Afghanistan and engagement in that part of the world isn't changing any of it.

It's looking more like twenty now, including the gurkha guards, local and foreign personnel.

No, entirely wrong analogy. The people doing the killing are the direct cause of these deaths. Terry Jones was the willing catalyst. He shoulders some of the guilt, but not as much as those whose religious fervour is so untrammeled and unreasonable that they believe murdering the innocent is a just punishment for the impiety of complete strangers.

Although I think his actions were wrong, he does not hold any of the blame. We should be detaining and punishing the murderers who killed innocent people over someone some man did in America to a Koran. In America we have freedom of speech, which can be voiced by burning books. Terry Jones was within his rights to do so (even if his actions were wrong). The people who are violent to the point of killing westerners over a burned Koran are the ones who are at fault and should be punished.

This is exactly why blind hatred of Muslims threatens our security.

Absolute bollocks.

Maybe people shouldn't be so ****ing sensitive.

Time to go.

Afghan protestors want to break into a United Nations office and kill people. The very people trying to help them, for something that happened a million miles away that doesn't hurt any of them, at all!

The perpetrators need to be found and executed, all forces withdrawn from the country, and these sensitive little ****s to be left to their own devices.

No one in that office hurt ANYBODY.

We can't help a country that cannot help itself. If that's the way they wish to express themselves, then we need to leave them to it.

Now I understand that these protestors don't represent the entire Afghan population.

I just think that the whole thing is a lost cause in totality, we're no closer to "winning" now then we were 10 years ago.

Some people take God seriously... and some pretend to.

only those who did the killings are the direct cause of the deaths. just horrible.

as for Rev Jones, well, what a wonderfully sweet example of christian tolerance and understanding. he must be very proud of himself.

No, those twisted ********ers in that crowd are directly responsible for these deaths. Terry Jones was simply excercising his 1st Amendment rights. It's just like burning the American Flag. I am offended as hell by that, but it's perfectly legal to do so. It would be illegal for me to kill someone over it, not to mention stupid as all get out.

How so?............

Eight foreigners have been killed after demonstrators protesting a reported burning of the Muslim holy book stormed a UN office in northern Afghanistan.

If morons in this country didn't walk around burning Korans and proving Islamic extremists right (who claim that the U.S. hates Muslims), some of this stuff could be avoided. Some people will always hate us, but when we prove their accusations right, their cause becomes more legitimate and violence like this becomes more likely.

I feel that people on all sides of the issue need to ****in chill out.

No, if their weren't so many dumbasses within Islam, none of this would take place. You got it backwards.

Exit question: How often did this sort of thing happen before 9/11?

Seems to me that there is only one side that is actually killing people. That would be the, "Religion of Peace", BTW.

Actually he is quite correct. Though, at the same, those people do need to calm down.

Good thing all the dumbasses are Muslim and not Christian Americans running around the U.S. acting like ignorant fools burning books.

Exit question: Why did al-Qaeda intensify its attacks on the U.S. after the U.S. wouldn't leave the Persian Gulf?

and what about the morons who legitimize their actions and are quick to hold anybody but the actual perps responsible for them?

I'm glad we can agree on something.

Ummm, because Islamic terrorists are all twisted bastards that need to be erradicated from the world's population?

In that case, you agree with my contention that while Muslims condemn terrorism, they support the motivations of the terrorists. Yes?

I've never met any of those people. I usually try to hang around people who are willing to examine all the causes of a situation, not simply the ones that completely absolve them of any responsibility and negative feelings.

Wouldn't it be cool if everybody took responsibility for their actions? What if morons who burn books knowing it intensifies the anger of those who have already attacked us took responsibility for their actions AND morons who killed people just for burning a book took responsibility for theirs?

No. No we can't do that. To the book burning patriots, it's all Islam. To the Islamic fanatics, it's all America. It could never be both.

Does that mean you oppose burning the American Flag?

I don't think burning the Koran or burning the flag should be illegal if that's what you mean - but I do think that doing both is stupid and burning the Koran is even more stupid considering that it gives anti-American terrorist organizations more fuel for their arguments/recruitment.
