Aren't atheism and radical Islam mutually exclusive?

I live in Keith Ellison's district, and one of our local Conservative radio hosts declared that Ellison was "using the gay agenda to promote Sharia Law." Huh? I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure sharia law isn't exactly friendly to homosexuals.

Newt's just trying to burnish his "Tea Party cred" by throwing as many boogiemen into one sentence as he can. I'm waiting for Bachmann to one up him with "Those atheist radical Islamists are going to come to America and force you to enroll in Obama-care. Then after you go before your death panel, they're going to take that Death Tax back to China."

Ok, so he probably just left out the word "or" like his spokesman says. Still. The main message is: BE AFRAID! EVERYONE IS OUT TO GET YOU!

Why do people throw around the word secular like it's a bad thing? How the hell does someone simultaneously warn about atheists taking over and then turn around and say that we can't let that OTHER religion take over. So, what, Christianity is the official religion of the US now? Christian values get to dominate our laws? The founding fathers wanted separation of church and state to avoid ANY religion controlling the laws of the nation.

With large scale immigration I can understand beating the war-drums against Islamism in Europe. I think that it's insipid fear mongering that has more to do with the 19th century Anti-Masonic hysteria than 1930's warnings about Nazi Germany, but at least we are seeing a lot of Muslim immigration into Europe. One in every 25 Britons is a Muslim; in America it's 1 in 200.

I'm going to be blunt so please forgive me. That's crap! First, you assume that no liberals are Christians which is not true. Second, I'm not sure "tolerance" means what you think it does. Tolerance means letting people live their lives the way they want. As long as they aren't hurting anyone, that is a good policy. There is a vocal minority of Christians who just don't get that concept. It is difficult to be tolerant of someone who is trying to make you live by their beliefs. You know, I don't think it's about tolerance so much as good manners. Some people just need to mind their own business.

Newt is very smart and has good ideas, but, he is a polarizing figure. The left demonizes him as much as the right is said to demonize Clinton.

He displayed hypocrisy when he was conducting an extramarital affair at the same time he was attacking Clinton. But there is a huge difference. A couple actually. Newt didn't lie about it and he resigned. Clinton lied and didn't resign.

And finally, he'll never really be able to escape that bit of dishonesty and it puts a tarnish on his credibility. He's done well since then, but it will never be forgotten.

Newt, Paul, Huckabee, Trump, et al, all these asinine clowns might just be red herrings.....the GOP gets them to say they want to run so that when they finally decide on someone who isn't a total clown, that person will seem, to the rest of us, like a good choice by comparison....

I love being told by a fear monger who can't keep his dick in his pants during a marriage that I am 1. an Islamist (funny, I thought that didn't go hand in hand with Atheism) and 2. Destroying America.

To those complaining about how Atheists are destroying Family values, as it turns out studies show Atheist males are more likely to be monogamous than Christian males. Funny how that works out.

Muslims are a very small minority of people in the country... Hispanics/Latin are the largest growing demographic, and they usually Catholic.

Newt needs to STFU

They also have some the highest teen pregnancies rates, so that isn't surprising... The parents push marriage on them.

It's like when Palin announced Bristol's pregnancy and said she'd marry the father... that wouldn't have worked out. Jamie Lynn Spears and her boyfriend weren't doing so great the last time I heard about that...

I tend to agree. I don't know what these republican leaders are thinking, and I wish they thought more highly of their voter base. Nonetheless, being a person of lofty ideals like compassion, courage, and hope, I take solace in the fact that it could be 100 times worse. Newt could have been a democrat:
