It was the seniors who were tearing up their AARP cards because they didn't want the HC bill to pass and AARP supported it. They threw their members under the bus.

Conservatives wanted the old people to just go eat dog food if their Medicare got cut.

I like the second one. What have those CEO bastards ever done, except the AARP of course?

House Republicans seek IRS probe of AARP - Yahoo! News

AARP lobbied for the new health care law and now it stands to profit, Republican lawmakers charged Wednesday as they called for the IRS to investigate whether the powerful interest group representing older Americans should be stripped of its federal tax exemption.
This is interesting since old people is one of the republican's core base.

Maybe you should check around on how people left the AARP when they put out their views on obamas healthcare plan. Or how about how expensive their insurance is compared to their competitors. They look after the seniors interests like a self centered mother that is pushing her kid to go be doctor cares for her kids ability to make their own choices.

Btw, if you leave the AARP they never actually figure it out and will continue to treat you like a member. Not sure how they can be this stupid, but yeah, they seem to not understand they aren't getting paid.

That has nothing to do with being against the AARP, I said in an earlier post my wife and I ripped up our cards and told them to take us off all mailing lists, I recieve Nothing from the AARP anymore. They outright lied to seniors about obamacare, they blindly supported it without having a clue what was going to be in the bill.

Re: Republicans seek IRS probe of AARP

A look behind the curtain at why AARP endorsed Obamacare:

By putting enormous price controls (cuts) in the Medicare Advantage program, many seniors will be forced to look to the other Medicare supplemental offer, MediGap. It just so happens that AARP sells MediGap coverage to its members. The income generated from those sales accounts for 60.3% of AARP’s revenues, ten years ago, this income only accounted for 10% of their budget.

So, in short, the Obama Health Care Scheme puts hundreds of millions of dollars in AARP’s coffers by forcing seniors off of Medicare Advantage and into MediGap programs. You would think that this was enough of a payback to the AARP for their support. But Big Government now reveals another little prize that has been awarded to AARP in time for their recent official endorsement of the Senate Bill.
Not convinced they should at least be investigated?

The AARP Foundation will have received over $100 million in Federal grants by the end of this fiscal year. Last fiscal year they received less than $80,000,000. That is a hell of an increase in this economy. But would AARP sell out their membership for a mere $20,000,000 increase in Federal Grants? It’s not quite as simple as that. The bigger question is: “Why does AARP continue to back a Health Care Scheme which seems to work directly against the interests of their members?”

The answer is: At this point, the AARP doesn’t NEED to care about their members. Frankly, they don’t NEED their members at all. Let’s look at the numbers:

•The AARP annual membership fee is $16.00.
•In 2007 AARP earned about $500 million in MediGap royalties
•In 2008 it earned $652 million in MediGap royalties
•The 2009 numbers have not yet been released, but given the trends, it’s looking pretty good for AARP.
•Add to that the $100 million in federal grants (that’s your money they are getting for free)
Behind the Curtain: Why AARP Supports ObamaCare - Big Government

Grants up $20 million in 2010. Who says you can't bribe a nonprofit into selling out its membership?

Laughable comment but not surprising coming from you. Seniors preferred Republicans by a 19 point margin in the 2010 election.

Seniors have almost always voted conservatively.

I agree...but there are a lot of people who are for whatever reason are republican and vote against their own interests. If you are working class, middle class, gay, minority, any religion other than "Christian"....I cannot understand WHY you would ever vote Republican. The GOP cares about no one other than the Wealthy....right-wing so called "Christians" and whites.
