Oh yeah, I pissed off some reporters in my time. I told some free lance Liberal bitch one time that I was going to shove her camera up her ass, sideways, if she took my picture. I got my ass chewed for it, but screw it, I've had my ass chewed before, I survived.

then you would indeed need to study the case more in depth. the OGA claims (along with the IDF claims) were generally part of a hysterical foriegn (read: Arab) press. no interrogators were involved in the Abu Ghraib abuses, it was the guards. the stupid, friggin, National Guard Guards. Who themselves (and this didn't get out much) thought they were dispensing justice in their own rough manner. nor did Rumsfeld ever order anyone to torture prisoners. the enhanced interrogation program, which some have claimed was torture, was performed at Guantanomo bay, on a select number of prisoners deemed critical to national security, not some random child-rapist in Iraq.

Not to mention that this was handled by the military before the news media caught hold of it, so there was no way the accusation could be made that no action was being taken.
by the time the media storm started around Abu Ghraib the guards involved were already under investigation and I think one of them was on trial. military investigators actually broke the story months earlier, but - again - since there were no pictures, nobody in the press cares.

we had a female photog from AP come out with a pony-tailed gray-haired can't-believe-the-60's-are-over partner.

'suuuure, we'll let you come on patrol. will you actually get to interact with Iraqi's in order to get the true story of our occupation here? yes ma'am, if you want, no problem.'

then we put them on our fastest squad and proceeded to run them to death. they went home the next day.

now we did get one freelance guy that stayed with us for a couple of months. he had had a son die in the Marines, and another was a Army chopper pilot; we considered him sort of part of the family. guy later went on to be John McCain's photographer during the '08 campaign. he was cool.

We should probably ask the parents of that 15 year-old boy if we have wasted enough time talking about it.

Yeah, talking about it might actually bring him back to life, eh?

I wonder if your 15 year-old child died at the hands of rogue soldiers how you would feel if people said it was a waste of time to even talk about him.

It might not bring him back but it honors his memory. I used to think that you US military people knew a thing or two about honor, but I guess I was mistaken.

Nobody has made any excuse for what's happened here. I think the Rev's point, which I fully expect to be lost on you, is that, for every deplorable story like this one, there are a hundred acts of heroism, courage and, yes, honor that go unnoticed.
