Reporter Confined to Storage Closet During Fundraiser With Biden, Newspaper Says

Honest?

You're the one talking about double standards that are entirely theoretical.

How would I react? I'd think exactly what I thought here: "There's probably more to this story."

Looks like so far the liberal media isn't reporting on it, so I doubt there is more to the story. They will just ignore it, is my bet.

Let's hear the usual liberal spin justifying that.....

Hmm.

Interesting.

So on the one hand we're supposed to believe that a man is falsely imprisoned, or held against his will, or whatever, and he got word out to his employer -- and on the other hand, neither he nor his employer called the cops?

Huh.

I guess this is the part where common sense gets re-branded "liberal spin."

No, "liberal spin" is deliberately misrepresenting what's being said. I'm conservative, show me where I claimed he was falsely imprisoned.

I get it. You're comfortable with your double standards and don't like having them challenged. Well, too bad. Test yourself though, if this story arose during Bush's admin, how would your response be different? Be honest with yourself for a change.

I tried to picture it. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say it would have been all over CNN, MSNBC, and the lead in to all the nightly news, if it was Cheney's staff. It also wouldn't have been about his staff, it would have been about Cheney.

There are things about this story that just don't add up. Like why the staffer put him there, or why no one called the cops. Things just don't add up.

I'm sorry, was I talking to you or commenting about you specifically? If not, how did I in any way claim that's something you said?

Huh, imagine that, a conservative engaging in "liberal spin."

Reporter Scott Powers says Biden's staff kept him confined in a closet during posh fundraiser

Scott Powers, a veteran political reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, was the lone newsman assigned to cover the $500-a-head bash for Sen. Bill Nelson at the home of developer and Democratic bigwig Alan Ginsburg on Wednesday.

Powers told Drudge that Ginsburg called him on Friday to apologize.

"He said he had no idea they'd put me in a closet and was very sorry," Powers said. "He said he was just following their lead and was extremely embarrassed by the whole thing."

Why would the guy call the reporter to apologize, if it never happened?

I await the liberal spin on this too.

So far, all I've seen is the word of a reporter who, having been confined against his will, didn't call the cops.

Nope, sorry, not buying it as it's been written.

Probably because the VP was going to make an appearance.

It seems to me that that's at least part of what pool reporters do -- following around the President and Vice President.

The cops weren't called because he thought he would be allowed to get an interview

That does not explain how this reporter was the only one allowed there

If things don't add up... WHY did the guy call and apologize to the reporter? Isn't that something you do when you' do something wrong???

I mean come on, if I was stuck in a closet for an hour, I'd probably you know, tell somebody, call the cops, call my newspaper and tell them whats going on. Take a few pictures, probably one of myself in the closet with the door shut to confirm it.

Jesus if I was this reporter, knowing that the staffers of the second in line to the presidency had done this, and the implications, I'd be thrilled with the oppertunity to have such a huge story, which is what this will be if it's true.

I don't think anyone said he couldn't leave if he wanted to. He just wasn't allowed to mingle with the guests. He waited there to eventually be able to do his job. Nobody actually "did" anything to him. The question should be, "why was he asked to wait in a storage closet?" Where's the transparency in this administration?

Not necessarily. One can apologize being it is embarrassing situation and you want to save face, but not because you did anything wrong.

So he just stayed in the closet without a fuss for an hour and 15 minutes... You're expecting me to believe that.

I've waited that long in one of those little examination rooms at the doctors office.
Didn't you look at the picture? There was a chair and table and a bottled water. He had a cell phone to keep him busy while he waited. He wasn't standing in a dark closet among a bunch of coats.

Was he the only one there, or was he the only one allowed there?

Maybe the pool figured that wasting one guy's time was enough.

Do we have it from anyone other than the reporter than he was apologized to?
I'm trying to figure out why you're so dead set on disbelieving him. Could it be due to who's being scrutinized here?

Vice President Joe Biden's staff lock journalist in closet to stop him talking to guests | Mail Online

When Ginsburg – who has supported both Democrat and Republican candidates in the past – learnt of the treatment that took place in his house, he called the reporter.

Powers said: ‘[Ginsburg] said he had no idea they'd put me in a closet and was very sorry.

‘He said he was just following their lead and was extremely embarrassed by the whole thing.’

But some guests were shocked by the Vice President’s staff.

One emailed the paper saying: ‘I was in attendance at the Fundraiser and enjoyed a nice lunch.

‘If I had known there was a reporter stuffed in the closet, I would have been compelled to stand up and demand answers.

‘I would also like to know if this is actually legal to treat people like caged animals. I’m disgusted by these actions.’

But the Vice President’s staff emailed him an apology which he said ‘I found far less satisfying than Ginsburg’s.’

A lot of apologies, for something that didn't happen, huh

My point was broader. You can apologize for something embarrassing, but not doing anything wrong. What the staffer did was wrong, but people in this thread are making it appear to be more than it is by bringing up Obama. I still want to know why he was left in there for so long. I have been to fundraisers like this and people just don't sit there for an hour and fifteen minutes with only asking once if he can be let out.
