Reporter Confined to Storage Closet During Fundraiser With Biden, Newspaper Says

He spoke first to his colleagues at his workplace I think. And it IS a story. A big old dumb story. One more Joe Biden oopsie.

Do you have any evidence that Biden was actually involved in the decision?

Hell, the other day I heard Limbaugh say this outright. Some caller said "if it was a Republican president doing X..." and Limbaugh replied "You could say that about literally any news story these days."
I resent this implication, I've never been done by any president, Republican or otherwise.

No one with a video camera perhaps? He was a print reporter apparently.

Logical Flaw #1:

Here is the biggest flaw in this story.

Don't feed me this horse **** Whovian.

You're better then that.

There's barely been a cell phone made in the last 5 years that doesn't do video.

I mean come on, he took a ****ing picture, it sends emails, chances are it takes video.

Or at least a sound recorder, he could have caught the Biden staffer saying the things he said.

Least of all, why did he take just 1 picture?

Logical Flaw #2:

The guests.

How did a Biden Staffer forcebly move this guy in front of 150 people into a closet?

Logical Flaw #3"

saying he had to wait in the closet for about an hour and 15 minutes

In an hour and 15 minutes, all he managed to do was send 1 email, and 1 picture?

What?

This guy is either really confident that his story will hold up to scrutiny, or simply the worst reporter on the face of this earth.

I mean come on, if I was stuck in a closet for an hour, I'd probably you know, tell somebody, call the cops, call my newspaper and tell them whats going on. Take a few pictures, probably one of myself in the closet with the door shut to confirm it.

Jesus if I was this reporter, knowing that the staffers of the second in line to the presidency had done this, and the implications, I'd be thrilled with the oppertunity to have such a huge story, which is what this will be if it's true.

All these flaws in the story are pretty big gaping holes, and I'd like you to try and film them.

Once again, those who are going to inevitably critisize me, will think I'm doing so because of my politics and defending Biden.

To be honest, I couldn't give 2 ****s about Biden or his staffers.

I just think this story, and all of you, are far too eager to get along without examining just how many lapses there are in it.

If they work for Biden and Obama, Biden and Obama are responsible for their actions that happened

If the story is false where is the denial from the White House?

Well of course there's a possibility the story is true, and the staffer(s) may have acted without approval, and so they're probably checking into it before they deny anything only to be proved wrong.

You know, makes sense.

if it was such a story, why did it receive no mention from the affected reporter, initially?

I'd be banging that door down, trying to get as much attention as I could.

Of course, reporters are known for be docile, RIGHT?

Mine doesn't take video and it's an iPhone.

Where does it say he was physically moved? The OP says he was ordered into the closet.

I don't think this is a situation where he was locked in a closet, so much as he was told to stay there if he wanted to cover Biden's appearance. If he had wanted to leave the party, I'm sure he would have been allowed to go. However, if he wanted to cover Biden's appearance, his option was to wait in the closet.

Re: Vice President's staff lock journalist in a closet for hours during a fundraiser

If true, this is horrible and if it is a violation of Florida law, I would love to see Biden charged for unlawful detention...

I'd like to see evidence that Biden had anything to do with the decision.

Mine doesn't take video and it's an iPhone.

What ****ing iPhone is it then? Are you sure you know how to use it in that case? I've had cell phones from almost every different brand, over the last 10 years, they ALL took at least some form if limited video.

.

Oh and he just went willingly? That's what I do when I'm ordered into closets.

Ah ok.

So why are people claiming that he was wrongfully confined?

Sorry dude, all those reasons OVERALL speak to a bigger problem with this story.

However once again, I'm willing to be proved wrong.

But it takes more then a single picture, and a dudes word to convince me.

I'll remember this next year during the election when a liberal reporter says Palin sniped him from a helicopter ;)

Another likely situation is that the staffers had this rule for reporters but then arrived at the event and went "Oh **** we don't have a room we can put the reporter in while we wait for Biden."

Yeah, there's more to this. Will wait for more details before caring. (although I'm unlikely to care either way, even then)

That too, would be nice.

The Orlando Sentinel is a liberal paper he could be afraid he would get fired if let out this type of story about the Obama administration

Read the story every time he opened the door the guy guarding the door said not time yet.

So he just stayed in the closet without a fuss for an hour and 15 minutes... You're expecting me to believe that.

so, you believe his is an uncreditworthy reporter
but whose situation merited a thread
appears y'all are still looking for scabs to pick

The guy is a low level staffer, I'm sure being kept waiting is nothing new.

Reporter Scott Powers was the designated "pool reporter" for the vice president's Wednesday visit to the massive Winter Park, Fla., home of developer and philanthropist Alan Ginsburg. The veep hadn't arrived yet but most of the 150 guests (minimum $500 donation) had. They were busy noshing on caprese crostini with oven-dried mozzarella and basil, rosemary flatbread with grapes honey and gorgonzola cheese and bacon deviled eggs, before a lunch of grilled chicken Caesar and garden vegetable wraps.

Not so for Powers. A "low-level staffer" put Powers in a storage closet and then stood guard outside the door, Powers told the DRUDGE REPORT. "When I'd stick my head out, they'd say, 'Not yet. We'll let you know when you can come out.'"

And no crustini for Powers, either. He made do with a bottle of water to sip as he sat at a tiny makeshift desk, right next to a bag marked "consignment." Powers was closeted at about 11:30 a.m., held for about an hour and 15 minutes, came out for 35 minutes of remarks by Biden and Sen. Bill Nelson, Florida Democrat, and then returned to his jail for the remainder of the event.

Re: Vice President's staff lock journalist in a closet for hours during a fundraiser

Im calling shenanigans on this one.

A: crazy as Joe is, i doubt he would let his staff do something THIS stupid.

B: daily mail. Nough said there.

C: Powers said he had a cell phone in that closet, why didn't he take a picture with it, or a video to show us all his claim. As he says in the article "i tried to stick my head out, and they said not yet not yet" somebody just wanted some attention. I would have videod or something.

Were you truly that gullible councilman?

That's rhetorical.

There was a picture from inside the "closet" It looked more like a junk room. I have one of those. :) Didn't you even click on the link?

Post is old, picture didn't show up the first time I opened it.

Still 1 picture in an hour and 15 minutes?
