Violent protests in the U.K. over budget cuts?

Protest in the U.K. turn violent during protest over the government trying to cut 100,000,000,000 dollars from the budget. Is this normal style European protest or this an example of when people become too dependent on the Government and feel entitled to all government programs?

You think we'd be any different? The difference here is that their government was actually trying to cut tons of spending to get things under control. Our government offers deflections like NPR/PBS instead of real solutions. But if they tried, seriously tried, to cut the same amount don't doubt for a minute that we wouldn't do the same. We're suckling from the government teat as well. We're hooked, we're losing the ability to do anything for ourselves anymore. Don't think this would be unique to Europe, the only real difference here is that their government was seriously trying to cut spending. Our government will only talk about it.

Any country that can ban so-called hate can easily ban protests against the government as a form of hate speech.

Don't we have "hate crime" laws? Our government would merely call protests against the government as a form of terrorism.

Exactly!

We have them in Canada and it has not only proved to be a menace against free speech but, of course, are being used very selectively. "Hate crime" laws are a disgrace in any democracy and should be strongly resisted. Sooner or later, sooner more likely, they will be used against political rivals.

I'm repeating myself, but... it's sad that public budgets are cut while corporations and banks who caused the economic meltdown in the first place get bail outs.

Western democracy is on the decline.

It's people who are in decline if they depend on corporations, or governments, to look after them. And if they do become dependent, of course they'll die out.

Are you not familiar with Darwin? There are some laws that cannot be delayed or denied.
